mirror closet door latch

what have you all been doing about the little plastic clear latches that keep breaking on the mirrored closet doors? I found some black ones online, but not sure if they are better. any aluminum ones out there?
Thanks!

Latches

My Cougar came with black latches and they worked fine until I managed to break one off. All I could find at CW were the clear ones. Talk about sleazy! They break at the drop of a hat. I went through 3or4 until I found some Black ones at an RV store. (NOT CW!!!) MUCH better!!! No more problems, I picked up spares as the black ones are hard to find.

Our Cougar had been a floor demo at the dealers showroom. One of the two mirror latches was broken which they cheerfully replaced.

Now, after one of the stepson's and family stayed in the trailer for a couple of days, I find another one broken. I am pretty certain it's a poor design that the unknowing will easily break because they pull on it instead of gently pushing. Once you know how the latch works, it's unlikely that you'd break one.

Now to find a stock of replacements.

Black latches

I found nine at an independent store in Montana. You just have to keep looking and buy a bunch when you find them.

Amazingly the independent shops have a lot more stuff than CW, and usually at lower prices.

I have the clear plastic one's and when they broke I relocated them and this did the trick. I also installed a stop on the track on the floor so the front door does not slam against the rear door Plastic catch.

I have heard some people removing them completely and using velcro just an idea YMMV.
