Howdy!
Hi all,
First time RVer. My wife and I just put our deposit on a 2021 Bullet Crossfire 2430BH. We were initially interested in a Sunset Trail 272BH, but the length and weight felt like more than we needed. We then stumbled on the 2430BH and are very happy to be 742lbs lighter and 3 feet shorter!! At 5010 dry and 28' long, it feels like the sweet spot for my 2021 Crew Cab Short Box Silverado Z71 1500 Trail Boss. Wow, that's a lot of words for one truck. I'll be hitching up with a Fastway e2 Trunnion with weight distribution and sway control.
Happy to be here and look forward to learning!
Whitney

Thanks! I think I’m probably going to start by seeking backup camera recommendations. You know, first timer stuff. 🤣

Yes - excited is an understatement! I’ve dreamt of owning a TT for many, many years. I’d be lying if there weren’t also a few nerves (towing!) but practice makes perfect and slow and steady wins the race.

Just take your time and don't let other drivers pressure you to speed or hurry up parking at the CG. That never ends well. You have the right attitude about learning as you must be open to learning and not think you know it all. When folks ask me when did learn how to fly (private pilt lisc.) my reply is "I started learning when I passed my flight exam and I'm still learning".
Welcome to the forum. All questions related to camers/camping are welcome.

Appreciate that insight. I didn’t grow up camping or RVing - we were a snowmobile family and boating family - so I’ve got plenty to learn! I think the educational aspect kind of contributes to the excitement, too. I’ve been watching some great videos on first timer RVing and even found one that does an awesome job of preliminarily showing me the ins and outs of our trailer specifically. I plan to watch it a couple more times before we pickup!

wborisenok - A couple of suggestions. When you take your first trip go by a scale and weight the rig. Three weights will give you all the info you need. https://catscale.com/how-to-weigh/
Consider these additions that most folks agree are a necessity for protecting your investment. Buy an EMS ( electrical management system) and don't waste your money on a "surge protector". https://www.progressiveindustries.ne...ed-comparisons
Buy a good water pressure regulator. The one's that the dealer may have given you are just "flow restrictors" and are worthless. https://www.campingworld.com/valterr...E&gclsrc=aw.ds I'd also strongly suggest a good water filter also. https://www.campingworld.com/camco-e...ter-filtration
These links are just for you to see what I'm recommending and not an endorsement for any one of these products. Folks have their own preferences on brand and they vary but the object is these items will protect your trailer from potential electrical and water damage.

Along with Marshall's great recommendations I'd recommend a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) such as TST 507 for the rv & truck tires, if not already equipped.

Also, is this a good thread to air out other general questions I’ve got? Mostly beginner questions and products I’m considering

Gary, also of note -- I am currently halfway through my initial EMT training. Had my midterm last night and landed a 94. Very excited! Ultimate goal is firefighter; I have my physical assessment this weekend. Did the trial assessment a month and a half ago and since then have been training with my 50lb weight vest, a dead blow hammer, and a very large tractor tire as a practice setup for the Keiser sled. Wish me luck for Sunday's run!

What are your thought's on Progressive's 30 AMP portable EMS? Looks to be on sale at Camping World for $281 and I just stacked on a 10% off coupon..comes out to $253.75. Seems like a great deal.

Look's like it does everything needed. Some folks like Bluetooth connectivity, others prefer hard wired so it's a personal preference if those features are worth the extra money to you or not.

Welcome n remember everyone was a newbie at one time. Like the others have said just take your time don’t let others rush you. At CG stop look at the site decide best way to back in. Always check for branches hanging bushes and stuff in the way. When we first got our rig. I went to a large parking and practiced backing into spots. Didn’t take long n was doing it without a problem. But I still requested a pull through site when camping. Then it came arrived at site n it was not a pull through. Man the thoughts went through my head. But all turned out good. Just took my time n had no problems.

My uncle gave me this advice: put my hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and turn it whatever way I want the trailer to go. I plan to be spending a solid couple of hours with my hand at the bottom of the wheel in an empty parking lot before our first trip!
A bit of solace I'm finding is that many have mentioned how welcoming and helpful the RV community is. Hopefully they'll go easy on me the first couple of times!
