Winter Camping

I have a 2013 Keystone Alpine 3450 RL. Does anyone have any experience in camping in freezing weather? I would like to do some winter camping in colder temps and wondering how cold my trailer will withstand with my furnace and a small elec space heater in the basement set just above freezing. Thanks

We are “winter camping” as I speak. LOL. Full timing now in hopes of building a barn in the spring, but that’s another story.

We run a small ceramic heater in the kitchen, the electric fireplace and the furnace. It was 19 this morn. We try and keep the furnace set at 68-70

Go through the two propane tanks about 2 weeks. I bought 2 spares off Amazon and new just rotate. Basement has been great, no issues. The vents seem to heat it just fine. We have a different model Alpine, but assume its close enough construction wise.

Our only freeze is kitchen sink as our trailer drains hang way down and they freeze up and get to the “T” in the trailer.

Other than that we are pretty Cozy and having fun

Thanks much for the response. My drain pipes are all enclosed and I pulled the bottom off and replaced my insulation with a greater R rating. Sounds like i should be okay.

Fishsizzle, put a styrofoam faucet cover over your low point drains.

They are waaaaaay too long for that. They hang down 18” or so. They have insulation wrapped around them now and they still froze last night. Warmer tonight so won’t be and issue.

I need to cut them back when it warms up

If they are "that long" and until you can find the time/warm weather to cut them back, how about a pool noodle, cut to proper length, pushed up onto the exposed drains? Close the open end with duct tape and a piece of the left over foam and secure with a zip tie so it won't fall off the low point drains.

Good idea!

Here is the thread with a pic and my stupidity for not fixing it sooner
