Pigtail docking station with a switch

Added a vehicle end by the pinbox to store my pigtail. Added a switch to the back to turn on and off my running g lights so they can be used at night. Red light is on if the lights are on. If someone has done this already, sorry not trying to steal an idea.

Details? Where did you get this device, and how does it work? when you flick the switch, is it re-routing battery power to your running light circuit? Looks like a neat idea.

I made it with one universal vehicle end, a vehicle end mounting bracket, 3 small pieces or wire, and a round switch. Power is from the auxiliary terminal, load is the tail light terminal and then ground is the third so that the red light comes on when the switch is turned on. I had to drill the back of the vehicle end because the switch is 15/16. A little RTV to seal ot and you are good to go. Can be done with a two post switch also. Got all the parts at a local auto parts store.

Just something to keep in mind I had a couple of buddy's do this and they ended up replacing the inverters due to the extra load. You shouldn't have a problem if your lights are led.

"If someone has done this already, sorry not trying to steal an idea."

Don't apologize. You made it your own and did a fine job of it. Nice clean job.

I mounted a weatherproof box on the frame, used a hole saw to make a hole to mount the female plug. I put a switch for the running lights and a switch for the backup lights on the lid (lid is on the front) I also have my backup camera plug on the box.
It's not so weatherproof anymore.

I can't imagine that even with traditional bulbs that you'd be drawing more than 5 amps... Sure he didn't wire it to the brakes?

Thanks nagrompj.

I figure they aren't gonna be on for entire nights just a an hour or so while we sit around a fire. Guess we will see what the long term has in store.

Brilliant idea! I've just been using a scrap piece of wire as a jumper between the terminals. This is a nice "factory look" solution. Love the idea of storing the pigtail that way also.
