Tripod fire stand

any suggestions on any current brand? Need one primarily for grilling as different campgrounds are pretty hit or miss on the style and level of workmanship of the their grills attached to the fire ring. We love fire cooked food so this is beginning to be a must have

The best brand I have ever seen is the home made brand. You can get pipe for legs real cheap, a bolt through the top with a wing nut, small chain from you favorite box store and a nice grill rack with some S hooks. About a 1 hour project. You can even add leg extensions by putting a smaller pipe inside each leg with a few holes drilled at 1" spacing that you can put a pin through in case you are on uneven ground....add an extra 30 mins for that.

We have always used iron rack type holders that we would pound into the ground and place the grill on. These we nice but hard to change the level once food was cooking. For Christmas I got a tripod that they picked up at Wal Mart. Seems nice enough. The chain is adjustable so we will give it a try this year.

I made one using 1" electrical conduit, eye bolts, and chain all from my local hardware store. Has supported my 11" cast iron Dutch oven filled with chili.
