Black tank valve

I have a '11 Alpine 3640RL with cable operated dump valve controls. The black water control is VERY difficult to operate both out and in. I suspect it needs lubricating along the cable and/or at the valve itself.

Has anyone done any maintenance to this system? How do you access it? What would you use to lubricate it?

Even a link to other threads would be helpful. Thanks

Over time, the cables can get water between outer casing and cable, this could cause movement issues. Has it always been stiff? If so, one thing I would check is to make sure the cable is routed so that there aren't any tight bends or loops. This could cause the cable to bind.
It also could be the valve itself. At 4 years old, it may be time to replace it. A replacement valve and cable assembly can be purchased online for about $75. Changing it is a pain but not to bad if you're a do-it-yourselfer.

I found on my 2012 that the solid part of the cable attached to the handle was the culprit. I used the red wheel bearing grease on all of them and they have been working fine. This is of course after one stuck and the rod broke off, but it was right after we bought it used and the dealer replaced it for us.
