Thumbs up RV Mat vendor exeperience

All the dealerships seem to have the same online catalog they can order from. Their mats either feature very- ahem-personal taste graphics (not our taste) or were small, only 6x15 max in solid colors and expensive.
I found a small outfit 45min North of us, rvmats.ca who met us partway at a rest stop in order for us to get the mat in time for our very first trip with our 3220 this weekend.
Thank you Tammy at rvmats.ca! AMAZING service, and best prices to boot!

Sorry for my ignorance, but if you have a Wal-Mart they usually have tasteful designs (similar to the site you suggested). Price is reasonable also. Down here in the South, you can't turn the corner without hitting some variant of a Wally World.

I avoid Wal-Mart if at all possible.
I believe our Wal-Marts are also stocked differently than in the US; we don't carry ammo, a lot of food choices you have, our RV "section" is only half of an already short aisle...
Long sotry short if I can support a local business, I will.

Those look similar to what Camping World sells. And similarly priced, though you're using metric dollars. I'm cheap, so I bought some astro turf. The first RV mat I bought started breaking apart at the folds.

X3.......will not spend a dime there. They create a culture that needs to shop there (their employees) and get all the crap from China.

Sad that they put so many awesome locally owned stores out of business.

Buy local. It may cost a few cents more, but you are helping our country.

I'm for supporting the economy, but my economy comes first. I shop where I get the best value for my dollar. In case you don't want any of your money going to China, better take a look at those tennis shoes and clothes that you're wearing or the tires that are on your trailer. I also buy most of my major purchases online. No sales tax and in a lot of cases, free shipping and delivery to your front door. What's not to like about that? Our merchants, and I live in a large city, just can't understand that there is a shopping world outside of the city limits and they price their stuff accordingly. Buy local for few cents more, sorry, in most cases, it's buy local for lot of dollars more, and I just happen to like the sound of that jingle in my pocket.

Odd... we drive to Austin and G-Town for both selection and savings... you live there and shop online for the same reasons... I guess the old saying about it being greener on the other side of the fence is still true..

I wish this conversation were about the use of and the quality of the mat as it relates to RVING as opposed to walmart hate and "where my dollars goes"..

These types of things are part of the reasons I despise RV.net forums.

Yeah. I was looking forward to a basic review of different mats to help in my purchase. But it sure took a turn away from te topic real fast

All it takes to bring out the haters is the mention of Wally World or Camping World.

I've never been one to use a mat but I can see where someone would like to .

Soooo... We were unable to use our mat this weekend on our shakedown trip ("No mats on grass") but will have a chance this weekend, and will report back.

What is the mat made of? Is heavy? We picked up an el cheapo that was on sale at our local Ace Hardware that is actually plastic. I can see pro and cons with the plastic versus cloth mats

6X9 from Costco - $19.95 - some kind of spun nylon or polypropylene? - very porous - lets the water right through - came rolled 'inside out' so the edges curl down, not up. Don't know - helps keep the dirt out

Well, here it is: it is definitely plastic. It has a built-in loop at each corner to facilitate staking down and a decent edging.
For the size it is a terrific bargain, with the free provided carrying bag of good quality with shoulder strap and side pocket to hold stakes etc.
We're very happy with it and hope others find similar rugs they are happy with as well.

Sadly once you get north of the border the selection and availability of RV accessories is minimal. There is no camping world, walmart carries little to no rv accessories and the pricing of accessories at the dealers is criminal compared to the US. Online shopping is an option, but duty and shipping negates any savings.

I will check this company out. The best price I saw on a 8 x 16 matt was $180

It's often hard to find things that are "Made in the USA" or at least not made in China, Taiwan, India, or other. When ever I can, I buy "US" and am willing to pay a bit more to support our economy.
