2 inch Receiver Spare Tire Carrier

Has anyone ever used one of these spare tire mounts in the 2 inch receiver on the rear of the unit?

Check the weight rating for the receiver/bumper/ rack, and if the spare and carrier are less than that number should be no issue. That said, consider the BAL undermount spare carrier. Th spare will bounce and wiggle like crazy on the back, you can use a ratchet strap to pull it to the bumper to mitigate. I switched to the undermount and now use the receiver to carry two bikes on the same rack I use for my truck, and use the mentioned ratchet strap fir more stability.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the BAL & think it would be great. But my 5er is totally sealed underneath, can't even see the frame. Which I think is a good thing, I don't want to tear into the undercover.

There is no bumper on my 5er so the receiver is welded to the frame. It has a 300# weight limit. I do not think the 16 inch spare tire will be even close to the 300#.

I'll get you a photo of my BAL mounted under the trailer. I have to lower it anyway to top off the air pressure this afternoon..

This is what I have.. https://balrvproducts.com/products/c...-a-spare.shtml

I also have no bumper on my 2020 Avalanche and the hitch welded to the frame.. but I wouldn't trust the hitch with much of anything...

Is it mounted in front of or behind the axles?
