Side Patio left open in rain??

We have a side patio on our Raptor 429... Is it a problem to leave the patio down in the rain? (There is a TV out there, but it is fairly recessed)

Yeah, not sure if I want to replace tv. I may just try to find a cover of some kind for it. It’s really nice to have patio down, but don’t want to be worrying while I’m away from RV for a bit... like running to dinner or to town.

Electronics and water don't play well together. The statement "(There is a TV out there, but it is fairly recessed)" would concern me on two points.

1. what does "fairly recessed" mean? Covered from a light rain? Covered from a wind blown rain?
2. High humidity outside, when it rains that means the dew point and the ambient air are the same. The water condenses out from the clouds (rain). If the Objects are a temp that matches the dew point then condensation occurs. Enough condensation on electronics will not end well.

Any electronics that are outside that aren't built to be outside should not be left "powered up" (i.e. plugged in) all the time. If you use an indoor appliance that's been stored outdoors then I would make certain that it was dried out before using. No matter, storing the tv outside with repeated condensation cycles will cause corrosion on the circuit boards and the components inside. There's a reason that televisions designed for outdoor use are so expensive.

Just did a Google search for your make and model. The answer (in my opinion) is "no". That television is exposed and any slight wind with rain will ruin the television, even if it's not plugged in.

Hey Dutchmensport... isn't that a big ol' awning in the picture? If that awning was out, would that protect that television sufficiently? Keystone hung the TV in that spot but if there was a BIG storm, I am sure the awning would come up so I would make sure that TV came inside.

That is exactly how it looks, I think it’d be good with a slight rain (especially with awning out)... but prob not comfortable leaving it open while gone with chance of rain

"Return the patio to the stored position when unattended or in periods of
inclement weather. The patio or steps may become slippery when wet. Damage
to the patio/ramp door due to wind, rain, or any weather condition is not covered under warranty."

When I read the original post my thought was about the patio itself, not the TV. I would be more concerned about damage to the patio itself more than the cheapo tv that's there. My Raptor's garage is that, garage not patio and I don't leave it open especially if any rain is around.

I coated mine in bed liner to seal it up which has worked well, especially since it pools a little in some spots. For the TV I bought a cover and have no problems. My patio goes down and stays down during any trips which is sometimes more than week plus and see rain, wind, sand, etc. and so far no issues in 4 years with these measures in place.

The bedliner is key as ramp door is not made to be wet (friends have had to replace theirs as warp easily!) and need to cover everything (bolts, etc.). Did a full write up on this here:

*** If yours does not have a center support to sit on the ground would add that too as I did this to prevent it from warping also as use ours a lot.
