How to use my inverter?

I have a '12 Raptor 395LEV and they told me I could run light 120v off my batteries. I have two 12v deep cycle up front.

I'm still in Hill City SD at the Sturgis Bike Rally and leaving tomorrow. I'll be Walmarting it tomorrow night in Sioux Falls SD and would like to watch TV if possible.

Do I need to do anything special to get light 120v?

I hope I'm asking the right question.

Thanks in advance!

If Walmarting you will be using the batteries for everything. How big is that inverter? Do you run a residential fridge? Is the TV even wired to the inverter? Depending on the size of the inverter, what you plan to run and battery capacity it all depends.

Sorry, just called my dealer and he said this only had a converter and NO inverter.

I do appreciate your quick reply, none the less.

I apologize for taking up space...😀

Not taking up space. When you don't know a question, in a place like this it is welcomed and we try to help. Fire away with any other questions or worries.

The more I think about it, I think I'm going to buy a good inverter and mount it in the hydraulic/battery bay and run 120v up to a receptacle that I'll mount next to the bedroom chest of drawers along with a 12v DC plug or two for charging "stuff". That way if needed, we could watch the little bedroom TV or power a small 120v fan for sleeping.

Shouldn't be a problem and it would probably be hooked up to my RAM truck with dual batteries as well as the inboard dual batteries.

Does that sound doable?

I personally would NOT stay plugged into the TV overnight. You can potentially drain those batteries and lose the ability to start the vehicle.

Dan

Subscribe to YouTube TV and watch TV on your smart phone. We do it all the time, turn off WIFI and use 4g data. If you have two deep cell batteries in your RV get a 12V fan to keep cool.

Dan most tv these days use very little power. Check the power label on the back of your tv. You can get a small 200-300 watt inverter that plugs into a cigarette lighter type plug and will power it off your existing setup. Very inexpensive and fine for occasional use.

Or you could take the money you'd spend on inverter, wire, batteries & etc & stay at a campground/park with possibly cable plus electric, sewer & water.

I'm with Woody in post #8. I'm usually dry camping and use my batteries for everything. I actually have a small 12v deep cycle battery in a case tucked away under my dinette attached to a 300w inverter that I use for various functions including running my TV. As was previously stated, modern TVs use very little juice. When I'm not using the inverter, I disconnect it from the battery so there is no drain. Then every 2 or 3 days when I fire up my generator, I charge up all my batteries and start again.
