Remember, dry weight of your trailer usually doesn't include batteries or the propane tanks. It's almost always way off. Head to the scales, that's the only way to know the truth. Weight the truck separate so you have each axle weight, weigh the trailer, then hook it up and weigh them together, on the last one you'll have 3 points that are being measured.

Thanks for all the info. I do have P series tires on my truck. My wife and I will be deciding in the near future how much towing we will end up doing in the future and either decide to purchase a used 3/4 ton truck for the purposes of towing, or find a campground we like and park the trailer there as a weekend home.

We have some additional discussions ahead of us.

Tim just use this as a example because my truck is different. See the listed truck and RV below.
With current trailer loaded tongue is is around 950 lbs checked at a scale. . My truck tires are rated at max. load rating 3740 lbs each. Pulling the current trailer, I did attempt it with 55psi in rear tires and they where to low. The tires when looked at showed that they where low and the truck rear swayed. At 65 psi it is great. I have carried real heavy stuff and I needed 80 psi it the rear. Empty 50psi is fine. Just getting ready for a long trip and airing up the rear tires today.

Thanks for the advice. I think my current tires are at their max pressure currently. I will definitely check that to make sure before I go out next time. I am also thinking I may need to make adjustments to the setup as well.

I do appreciate all the advice and input from you and the other owners. This is definitely going to be a learning process as we go.
