Any Keystone Premier Owners Out There

My wife and I are contemplating purchasing a new camper; we currently have a Starcraft Travelstar 23SBS. We like the looks and a lot of the options the Premier has, but I cannot find a whole lot of reviews or thoughts on the camper. Also, I am towing with a 2007 F-150 with a tow rating of 9200 lbs., do you think 7000 dry weight is to much for the truck? Thanks for your time and have an outstanding day.

Welcome to the forum. If you do a forum search for "Premier" you'll get 20 pages of information about the Keystone Premier line. Here is a link to that search: http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/sea...archid=2171725

As for towing a 7000 lb empty weight trailer with a truck rated to tow 9200 pounds, you're probably going to be over your limit on payload, hitch weight and possibly also on GCWR (depending on the size of your family and the cargo you typically carry in the tow vehicle).

Do some reading of the already available information and if you have any questions, post them and I'm sure you'll get answers from owners of that trailer model.

Again, Welcome to the forum.

Which Premier are you looking at? We have the 31bhpr which we love. We are into out 3rd season with it. Great trailer so far and yes, they look good. Our trailer is 6400 dry, 8000 if loaded. We towed with a 150 for a year, the 150 had a payload of 1700 and tow capacity of 8600. We were pushing numbers for sure but it did the job. Not sure if we would have done it if it weighted any more. We tow with a 350 now so all is great. Let me know if you have questions.

Like GaryWT, we also have a 31BHPR which we love. Used to have a Toyota Sequoia which would have been at (over) it's limits. Currently have an F350 which I'm glad to have for towing as I'm sure now that towing with the Sequoia would have been pushed all over the road.

The premier is a very nice trailer! My couple of gripes about it are that the electronics package (integrated radio / DVD player) is about as low end as you can get... I'm also starting to wish we would have looked around at other Keystone models a bit more. I would have liked a model with solid surface counter tops. Can't beat the look of the Premier though with the frameless tinted windows. They are definitely made to be lightweight and that shows through in some things not being quite as sturdy as you would like. 31BHPR is IMHO the perfect floorplan. Love having 2x doors with the extra door into the bathroom.

In the end each configuration is all about trade-offs. Just like the axiom better, faster, cheaper - pick any two... You can't have everything. I've also heard it referenced many times, they have made thousands of different RV configurations but haven't made the perfect one yet... It's all about finding which one has the most features that you are looking for in the package (weight) that you can afford.

In the end, we're VERY happy with our purchase. Would we pick the 31BHPR or a Premier again, not entirely sure, but this one would be hard to beat.

We love our 31bhpr, being a few years old we got a great deal on it. Looking forward, I may seriously consider a 34bhpr...awesome floor plan. My biggest gripes with our trailer is the short queen bed and the ridiculous 30 gal waste tanks...way too small for a family trailer.

We are on our first trip with our 31bhpr and I love this trailer. I will second the small waste tanks especially as we are at a site that doesn't have sewer. The trailer does have a lot of room though.

We never looked at the tank size as we only camp at full hook up sites but they are small. If we do not open the grey tank when we arrive, it is usually full within 24 hours. The black tank we can easily get a 3 day weekend out of and sometimes a fourth day.

We love our little 19. Good quality at its price point. With the tall ceilings, seamless windows and great floor plan, it has everything we need. We dry camp a lot and really have to conserve on water, but there are many creative ways to do this. We've never owned a camper with a lot of water capacity. Makes us realize how wasteful we are at home. We did eventually purchase a generator. Premiers are power hogs, even with conservation efforts like LED lights, etc. We've owned it almost three years now, been to many RV shows, and still don't have camper envy!

34bhpr

we have had our 34bhpr since 9/2013. we love it. we had some minor issues during the first year that had me wanting to pull my hair out. but now (knocking on wood) we hopefully have worked the bugs out. i am so glad we went with this model. 7200ish dry family of 4 (plus kids bring friends most trips). started out towing with a tahoe (mistake!!!!! that only last 1 trip)

I originally was looking at the 31BHPR, but I really like the layout of the 34BHPR.

The 34 is a great floorplan but I hate the front slide and losing space under the .awning so I would avoid it. The outside door to the bathroom is real nice as well but nothing wrong with the 34 for those that don't mind those things
