Electrical outlet screw clip

Ok....so the description might not be accurate but I'm looking for the name/part number for the small clip that's on the backside of the screw that draw tight to the backside of the wall board to secure the outlet to the wall. I was finishing up my smart tiles on the outdoor kitchen area and one of the clips fell off into the wall cavity.

I do not think those tabs are sold separately
. Think whole outlet is only few bucks. Poppy.... in his post about installing a inverter in his rig there was a link to an ebay site that sold these outlets. I have not seen any at Lowes or HD. If I the link will send to you

Looks like few bucks is about 5. If you find in a local big box store let us know

Fantastic. Gotta love eBay. I looked around and found several for about the same $5 price mark. I also searched another site and found them on sale for $39.00!

Go to your local big box store and look at the "old work" electrical boxes. These have tabs that clamp the box behind the wallboard. Don't know if the screw size is the same, and don't know if it will be any cheaper. But there won't be any shipping, you'll have it right now if you are pressed for time. Of course these boxes are too deep - I was thinking you could use one of the tabs to replace the one you dropped.

Size is going to be critical on these outlets because of the thickness of interior walls in the trailer. You may have to go to your dealer to get it. You're only looking at buying one, so I wouldn't anguish over trying to save $2. Just go get it, put it in and go camping.

SandMShall, Howdy;

You might look for an electrical supply shop in your area.
Speak to the sales folks and they might just slip you one
off the cuff.
Or you could just snip a like sized piece of tin can fold it over
the end of box, drill a small hole and put it all back together.

I just made mine by cutting a piece off of another box I had kicking around.
I also looked on eBay and was surprised at the prices but I guess everyone has to make a living.

One off the back of a plastic outlet box from Home Depot will probably work and they are less than a buck. All of this over a piece of plastic? Really?

I went and got a box from HD for $1.59 and took off the clip. It worked just fine!

Try a store that has auto body shop supplies or go to a large body shop and they will have these in several sizes for pennies.
