Water heater light

We have a passport 195RB.
there are 2 switches in the bath room for the water heater, one for gas one for electric. There is a red light in the middle of these switches. I have only seen this light on once. When I was testing things. I have not seen it on since.
When is it supposed to come on? The water heater is working, but no red light

The red light is probably the “fault” light. It will come on if the burner fails to light. In some models it will illuminate as soon as you turn on the gas side and go out when the burner lights.

Yep - ^^^ that's how our WH works (Passport 239ML), light goes out right after it lights.

We have the same trailer. Does your light come on when you use the electric? Ours is on all the time, and the hw works fine. I thought it stayed on to let you know it’s working, but now it seems there may be an issue.

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I was thinking back to the previous camper. This one does not have the light. Only the rocker switch light. Yes, when on he switch stays illuminated. This is for both the gas and electric switches. I believe the “fault” light will illuminate if you turn on only the gas switch and it can’t light.

Sorry about that...

While we're on the subject, you know you can run both the electric and gas for a faster recovery?

Also, do yourself a favor and get one of these to install along the lower wall under the bunk... you can access the bypass valves easier when it's time to winterize. Keystone obviously "forgot" to install them in the newer 2020s.
