Factory Tours

We really like factory tours.
I rode Brit bikes for years and have no intention of buying another but the HD tour in York PA was just great.
Toyota. Did you know the largest Toyota assembly plant IN THE WORLD is in Georgetown KY? The tour is one of the best.
Nissan has a very large assembly plant in Smyrna TN. You can see right hand vehicles on the line because they build for North America and New Zealand and Australia.
The Ford Rouge River plant isn't all that interesting because you walk around an elevated walkway looking down.
All the other tours you are actually on the production floor.

We toured Passport in Goshen IN and a couple of other RV plants in the area.

Are you a fan of factory tours?
What ones impressed you?

We have been on the Harley tour in York. We received special access and actually got to watch them build our 10th and most recent CVO, it was an awesome experience! The only other tours were food related; Ben & Jerry’s in Waterbury VT and the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory in Hyannis MA. We would love to do a RV manufacturer tour

Only tours I’ve been on were the Ford ranger plant in the Twin Cities when I was a kid. And the Alliance factory tour when they were building our camper. Have photos of the camper while it was being built. That was a fun tour. I would dearly love to go tour a Keystone factory (or any other brand), because I find the whole process of building them fascinating (and it does help a little when you have to fix stuff occasionally).

Oh! Does the Jack Daniels distillery count as a factory tour?

We did the Montana tour. Interesting to see all those Amish craftspeople with tats, nose rings, and no bras.
The Woodford Reserve, Makers Mark, and Jim Beam tours were much better.

Of course Jack Daniels counts. It WAS a good one. We had a new 1979 TransAm so it’s been awhile.
They did mail us a very nice wood carved stained block transfer print.
But I ain’t too crazy about Tennessee whisky.

The last time I went on a 'factory tour' it was a micro brewery and we stayed in their parking lot. Is there anything along 95 (or not far off) somewhere around Fayetteville or there about. Just a stop over for a couple of nights and looking for some touristy things.

We did the bourbon trail from Lexington KY. Good think my wife doesn't drink and could drive.

I would say Buffalo Trace although not on the bourbon trail was very interesting. Part of the tour was the cooperage and that was amazing.

Halifax, North Carolina
We found Halifax interesting. Very historic and worth a few hours to get out and walk around.
Really large parking lot at the visitor center. Plenty of room for RV's.

As I've said before, our style of travel is AAA guide in hand and looking out for roadside Attraction signs. Just a vague idea of a final destination.

Wilson, NC
Good craft beer and the whirligig park is just crazy. Lots of parking next to the park.
Worth a few hours.

Yes go to the keystone factory and watch how the put them together we did and saw our 2020 Raptor being built. It is worth the time and effort to see how it's done.
