Rear and side camera’s

Furrion Vision S 5” single cam is on a huge discount on Amazon. But I’m wondering if I should get the side cameras as well.

I just got an Arcadia 3940LT so my first 5th wheel. The tow mirrors are pretty good on my ford so I never really felt the need for side cameras on my bumper pull. Just wondering if I’m missing out?

JMHO, I have been towing a fiver since 1989 and never had any cameras. I still don't, and since I don't tow an additional trailer behind it I don't really see the need. If I really want to see what's behind me I "jog" in my lane and look in the mirrors. Cameras are great for those that feel the need, I see it as another distraction. I have traffic, gauges on the pillar and two mirrors to constantly scan through, I dont need yet another screen to look at since doodoo can happen in an instant.

Rant off, I have installed a few of those systems and the owners loved them, being newbies.

i think the rear camera is nice if it’s wired up to your running lights ….makes checking on bike rack and helps you see how far you can back up in a site…or if your backing close to an obstruction.

the side cameras i probably wouldn’t look at because i use my mirrors.

i have the surround cameras on my ram dually and have never used them to back up…i always forget to check them and they are the mirror mounted cameras that can see all around

I bought the Furrion side cams thinking they were something I just had to have. Well, I never use them. By the time you carve up that display into 3, it’s very hard to discern what is showing on each camera. I like the rear view cam as a replacement for my truck’s rear view mirror when towing, and that’s it. The lower portion of the mirrors on my Super Duty are more than adequate for side viewing. YMMV.

Well I have a different brand, but I put on side and back cams. But I use my mirrors, I cannot back up with the cams for some reason; funny thing is I can back up a 1/4 mile using mirrors and not have an issue.

I use the cams for backing into tight places where my mirrors can't see around corners, like where I snuggle my 5er between trees and a shed. Also nice for distance behind you from the rear cam, and a couple times I have found folks in the side cam that were in a mirror blind spot. Nice to watch the bike rack going down the road too. Many reasons to have, many reasons to not. I only wish I got a 4th cam to put into the back of the truck to assist with backing to the pin when I am alone. All the cams are wired into the running lights/lights, which is an added safety feature for others who don't seem to be able to see these big rigs coming down the road.

Not sure of the discount you speak, but I paid about $500 for my setup and am very happy, well worth the $$ spent. Though I did hit a pole on the side that I should have looked in the cam to see if the wheels had cleared the post. So if you don't use them it isn't worth the $$

My rear camera is wired full time to the 12v of my Alpine 3650RL, affectionally called "the Hack Job". I like to be able to view the storage box on the back of it while traveling, it has motion detection so I take the monitor inside with us and I am alerted if something is moving at the rear while at the site and I also depend on it when I backing it into my shop to know how far I can back up to the truck already in the shop. I like my rear camera. Furrion with 7" monitor.
