How much will you fork over?

Was looking at one of new parks fairly close. It is up north of New Braunfels Texas. Saw it in Campgroundreviews.com:

https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/regio...m_medium=email

The website link on campgroundreviews doesn't work but found their site via google maps and Camp Fimfo is pricey. While it is in a pretty prime area, so are many other parks in the Hill Country. Guess I am just cheap but $200 plus for an RV spot is more than this cheapskate will spring for. Whatcha all think?

I can still go to a beautiful State Park for $33/night. Nice County Parks for ~$35/night. Many, MANY nice private parks with more amenities for often <$60/night. Occasionally will pay more like $75/night depending on location as a splurge. I have looked at $100/night sites in passing and thought...'maybe one of these days'.

I know that high end parks in the Orlando area, or Fort Wilderness at Disney will be well over $100/night. But $200/night??? That wouldn't even hit my radar. I'd keep right on shopping.

But there are a lot of people with a lot more money than me. They are clearly after the high end clientele and will likely get it. Those $500,000-$1,000,000 tag axle diesel pushers have to park somewhere...

Historically one of the many benefits of RV ownership was that per night cost was less expensive than a hotel. Once you get up to the $150-$200 or more per night you are in hotel price zone (with free internet and hot breakfast included).

The most I’ve paid was $150 per night during Frontier Days in Cheyenne. Actually, I stayed at the famcamp at F E Warren AFB for $70, but was willing to pay $150 at a site in town if I couldn’t get on base. The only consolation to that is that hotels in town are around $250 or more during that week. Other than that, I’ve never paid more than $60 per night and have no desire to at this point.

I paid about $50 a night at Branson, Mo, about 3 rears ago.
I usually stay within 250 miles from home, an the most I’ve spent around here (OKC) is $40. We like to stay at COE campgrounds because I get a good discount making camping in some places very affordable.

Would I pay $200/night? That is a textbook rhetorical question.

i don’t think i’d pay that much if i had a choice but down in the Keys it was pretty expensive..Bar Harbor was pricey also but that was for the location

some people pay for exclusivity..that’s why they will pay thousands to join a private swimming pool/club..…. snobby folks ( not all are ) seem to like to stick together.

some rv parks are only for class A rvs because they cost so much it’s mostly for well off or rich people…they only want rich people staying there

i’m fine with $27 a night state parks

Here's a link to rates for their "stuff". I picked a Monday night as I recall, 2nd link is over a weekend;

https://www.campspot.com/book/fimfo-...ts0,0,2,0/list

https://www.campspot.com/book/fimfo-...ts0,0,2,0/list

I guess the prices aren't too bad if you are carrying a truck full of kids and you can avail yourself of all those "activities" and things. Sort of an all inclusive resort. Been to one, maybe two (not RV) and they just don't offer what I want. I would pay that much for a location in a place that I really wanted to be in. I want the RV campground to give me a nice place to stay...I'll find my own entertainment and don't want someone (a place) surrounding me with stuff I would never be interested in....where's the backwoods trail? The quiet? The "I haven't seen anyone in a week" environment? Yes, I know it's an RV park but.....give me a quiet place in a good area.

We try to take our granddaughter to one of these types of RV "resorts" each year. She usually wears me out, but has a great time. I have been looking at this park for almost a year and thinking we will try it out. Previously we stayed at Jellystone and it appears similar. If you cant spoil your grandkids, who can you spoil!

I agree. Our grandkids range in ages from 22-33 so my days of "spoiling" them at a Jellystone or other child oriented park are long gone - btdt already. Until they grow up I think it's a requirement (IMO) that grandparents do everything they can so that the "grandones" remember "those days" when they are grown. Ours remember those days and in fact those early trips have cemented some of the things and places they love the most now. Have fun.

The price is to dicey for me!

We purposely avoid RV parks and campgrounds located in high tourist areas, and the higher price "resorts" are usually located in these locations. When the kids were little we did camp in some of these more "tourist" and commercialized, industrialized type locations. Even back then (30 years ago), campground prices in those locations were still within reason. Today, definitely not so. If a price can be gouged and someone is willing to pay it, the price just keeps getting higher. And so it is.

As I said, we avoid commercialization as much as possible. Our destinations are now, almost always, in reclusive, little unknown, or off the beaten path locations that are not attractive to get-setters or folks attempting to make an impression or make a statement about their successful life style.

We've had some marvelous and wonderful camping experiences in the last few years... especially when you are the ONLY one in the entire campground, it's pitch dark at night, and and the Cascadia's are so loud they sounds like thunder.

When the Pandemic was at it's highest, we were camping in some of these places, isolated from the world. It was marvelous. Again, when the kids were little, we DID experience the active, go-go-go-go lifestyle, wanted all the attractions, all the craziness, all the Las Vegas lights at night, and all the commotion that goes on in more commercialized RV parks. But when we got older ... we select those locations were we can vegetate and commune with nature in solitude. Those campsite prices are much, much, much less than $200 a night! Guaranteed!

Good for you and I couldn’t agree more. Unfortunately for the DW and I, it doesn’t look like grandkids are in the cards for us. Fortunately, I have grandnieces and nephews that allow us to do it a bit.

Camping with grandchildren is a whole different camping then just the DW and I. The Yogi Bear CGs are ridiculously expensive if you don't have children. BUT, with the kids I consider it a bargain. Once your there there's no driving, parking, etc. Food is what you want to cook or you can buy something to eat but still a lot less than in an amusement park for the most part. No worries on the dog being couped up etc.

Now @$200/night I wouldn't say never but they would have to offer a lot for me to consider it. I'm not a cheap person but I don't have money to waste either.

Place seems to be less a "campground" than a Six Flags with destination utilities.

If you have ever seen one of those Yogi places they are kind of garish. Never priced one as they don't look like they are trying to rope in geezers but more for kiddos, etc. The one up by Fredericksburg TX is about $100 a night for an RV slot and almost as much for tent camping (go figger). I have never had my picture taken with Yogi.... hmmmmm

WAY too pricey for me. Sheesh. We prefer our state parks for $33/night where we are not right on top of our neighbors...
