Doesn’t kill the appetite, but does take the joy out of eating. Especially when you know you are eating good, Like today. I have smoked 16# of pork butts, made 5# of potato salad, 4# baked beans and will finish up with homemade peach ice cream and I won’t taste a thing.

That would suck. Maybe then I could eat some of the Mexican food my wife loves and I can’t eat

My taste buds have sure changed in the last 6 months. Betty made some spaghetti; I took a bite and asked her what sauce she used. The same we have used for 40 years. Well, it tastes terrible. Then I went through a phase where I would get a sharp burning in my throat. It tasted like sawdust from a piece of stained wood. Then it was the taste of celery. So I thought at some point I had covid.

DW and I had Covid back in April. We took the therapeutic drug Paxlovid. Doc said it reduce taste and we both wish it would have. Instead, we both had a constant taste like a bitter pill stuck in the back of the throat slowly dissolving. The taste dissapeared 5 days later when the meds were finished. Our taste and smell returned to jormal.

Maybe it's psychosomatic or just timing, but I'm feeling better. Took the 3 Paxlovid pills earlier this morning.
No bitter taste yet.

Been told that those Paxlovid pills make you ornery. Look at those who have taken them and admit to it on this site!

IMHO from now on any type of virus you may catch, whether it be the flu or common cold or a hang nail, you'll test positive. Whether + or - the treatment is the same, stay in bed, take medication for the symptoms, drink lots of fluids & avoid others, the difference being you can now say "I have Covid!". Baring any other underlying conditions you'll be feeling fine in 36-48 hours.
We've both had both vaccinations + the booster & if we feel bad the last thing I intend to do is run out & buy a test kit cause it'll test positive 99.99% of the time!
I'll becso glad when this Covid BS is just a very bad memory! It's ruined many a businesses & families that owned them & all but crippled this country due to the overreaction of everyone involved.
Sorry I set you off.

I have no doubt that the therapeutics kept us out of the hospital. It hit us very hard and after the third dose we felt much better. The side effect of the taste sensation was a very acceptable trade off in our opinion. I am still feeling fatigue from the infection. I just returned from my regular check up with my cardiologist and he said I have "long hualers" and the effect can last for months.

I've always been the type that rarely got ill (except sinusitis) and typically bounce back quickly but this time that wasn't the case. I guess it effects everyone differently.

Brent, I hope you are back to feeling good quickly. From what I’ve heard, getting Covid can be like a cold, or like getting hit by a ton of bricks.

On a side note, I would love to see a study done of how many people who have had the vaccine are getting Covid versus those who are not vaccinated (and have never had Covid) getting it. Because it seems like in our neck of the woods, everyone vaccinated (and many boosted, up to date, whatever the heck you want to call it) is getting Covid for the second or third time while those who are not vaccinated aren’t. And I’m not talking last year or before, I'm talking this summer/ spring. I just find that…. interesting.

I would like to through another log on the fire!! I respect and support everyone's personal decision about getting the vax or not. If needed, I would stand up next to you and defend your right to do so.
My wife and I got the vax and booster for a reason that seems not to be addressed directly. Our doctor recommended that we get it.
If there was a way to care less what any present or former political leader has to say about it, I would. Ditto to any doctor on tv.
I have trusted my doctor for many years to provide guidance for my health decisions. And to "doctor" on me when I need it! He said it would be a good idea to get it so we did. I have seen relatively unhealthy people get it and get over it pretty quickly. My cousin, age 69, in great health, active, took no medication, got it and was dead in 3 weeks. Like another poster said, it affects everyone differently.
Anyway, hope all of you that mentioned having it make a good recovery. May the campfire smoke always blow away from you!

I got the jab as my wife insisted on it and if I stand up to my wife I generally sleep not in the bed and don't get fed. Did it do any good? Dunno but I didn't get the china-flu but then again I work on my property and don't see other humans except for my wife for entire weeks except for my wife and the church folk. Some of the folks at my church have gotten the china-flu but I guess I am not much of a hugger anyway. An older couple near 90 got the bug and it kicked their butts but they were jabbed and got over it. Dunno if it helped them or not. My advice, don't be a hugger.

I got told by my wife and daughter that I would get the jab. I did.
I lost 2 good friends and coworkers to it. One got blown out of his tank in Vietnam, survived that. Became a rotating equipment manager for Shell with less than a high school diploma, only to retire and die of the China Virus. Damn them.

6 yr old grandson was back to 100% in 48 hours.
It's been 10 days since Betty and I tested positive, we are out of the contagious stage. Both of us still feeling like we got knocked down hard. We were having big issues coughing up phlegm whenever we would lie down. Sleep was elusive. Mucinex has helped. Tired, wore out and don't want to do anything.
Son says he is doing OK. Said it was a blessing in disguise. He was scheduled to go on vacation to Arkansas with his in laws.
I'm waiting on my lawn lady to show up to trim hedges. It's forecast to be 100F+ today and I'm not up to it.
Time marches on.
