Forum spam

Have a few year old iPad that I primarily use for keystone forum

Get the usual sidebar ads somewhat relevant to my browsing history but for the last maybe 2 weeks I’m getting a popup entire screen warning that my Mcgaffe anti virus is expiring..have to exit out of the forum and come back to the site

It only happens when I’m on the keystone forum …no other site at all and believe me I’m on my iPad alot

I’ve cleared my browsing history and cookies etc…iPads don’t even use antivirus programs for the most part and I don’t use mcgaffee on any of my computers

Wondering if one of the new 1 post members brought a virus on the ship

For the record I’m talking about the occasional wacky unrelated 1 post vague member

I guess it could be from one of the semi personalized ads that are on my side bar

Yeah it’s probably related to the personalized ads I guess

Maybe you can do a search for

“cummins engine injection pumps”

“ Sofia Vergara”

“Tap dancing elephants”

Not necessarily in that order….see if you get the spam and get back to me

If this is an issue with the web site software we should be hearing from other members soon. IIRC someone had a similar issue with an IOS device. Maybe GHen or LHaven?

I think searching Sofia Vergara "in" Tap dancing pumps would be more worthwhile

Reading this again I'm afraid of my typos resulting in some dangerous results.

I don't have problems with ads on any of the RVLife pro forum sites when I am logged in. However, when not logged in, I get ads.

Note also: even when not logged in, I don't get near as many when I use Brave as my browser instead of IE, Firefox, Chrome, or any other Microsoft compatible browser. Compatible means, the browsers share info with Microsoft.

If you download Brave (Brave.com) and use it as your primary browser, you won't get add, you won't be tracked, you won't have history, you won't get cookies, you won't get harassed by telemarketers because my cell phone uses Google Chrome and the dang thing listens to what I say and talk about on my phone calls. Then when I go into Google, or YouTube, I'm flooded with advertisements about what was discussed on a conversation from just a few hours earlier.

So, try using Brave.com and then use DuckDuckGo.com as your search engine, and you'll never be tracked. You can change the setting and allow some stuff through, but ..... WHY? Google and Microsoft already do that.

I second David's recommendation to use Brave and Duckduckgo.com for browser and search engine. I use a VPN and I can't use Brave when accessing my FedEx account for some reason and must use Chrome. Also I must OK all pop ups if that is necessary on an individual basis. I have Adblock on my Android cell phone and it does a credible job blocking all pop ups and I think it can be added to a Windows box but not sure about Apple based stuff. If you MUST use google to search you can go into the settings and turn off ad personalization and they make it known you will get random ads rather than those based on your search or the web pages you visit.

I am on this site using my iPhone 100% of the time (iPhone 13 running iOS 15.2). Although I do have the Brave browser, Safari is set as my default and I have not had any spam, pop-ups or other nefarious shenanigans manifest themselves while on this site.

Yeah I have never seen any issues at all in all the years I’ve had apple products

Well. I'm using Opera on my android cellphone, and using DuckDuckGo for a search engine.

But. Because I'm a team player, I'm going to try those search idea about Sophia... 😮

It wasn't the picture I was jokeing about, just the search. There's more shown on the tv every day then that photo. Anyone else old enough to remember when tv shows had to show 2 single beds and they could film setting on the bed but not lying down? I'm no prude and I curse enough to make a sailor blush but it seems to me like our society needs just a little nudge back. JMHO

In the Real McCoys series, Luke and Kate share a single bed. Once a visitor (Kate's uncle) had to sleep with Grandpa Amos and they shared a bed and were under the covers together although Grandpa Amos couldn't sleep due the snoring. Seeing two men in bed together is a whole different ball game!

Don't know the years that standard was in effect or what year the episode you refrenced was aired. I do know that the early "I Love Lucy" episodes it was in effect even though Ricky and Lucy were actually married.

I never was much a fan of I Love Lucy but my wife is; that and the Golden Girls. The Real McCoys first aired in 1957. Back then, tv series had a bazillion episodes a year unlike today. Season 3 (1960) had 39 episodes. Nice thing about getting old is that I can watch my favorite shows over and over and don't remember what happens. My wife and I just finished Justified which I thought was a great series.

Wasn't a Lucy fan either but remember reading about the "bed ban". I also recall a refection by James Arness on tv censors complaining about excessive gun violence on "Gunsmoke". He said they had to reduce the amount of gunfights in the series. Compared to the past, current broadcasting there's very little that's limited these days.
