Fresh water tank size issue?

My water tank specs show 43 gallons. I drained the fresh water tank and I used one of those hose water measuring devices and only got to 34 gallons indicated before it spit back at me. Nothing came out of the small vent next to the fill hole. What am I missing? I was expecting to get 43 gallons into the tank.

i think they count the water heater capacity in that figure…maybe your meter is off as well

Ok, that's interesting. HW tank is 6 gallons.

I'll check out the meter also.

Lee, Keystone lists fresh water capacity not FW tank capacity. So 34 gal + 6 gal is 40 gal. Where is the missing 3 gal? Hard to say but if I were going to make a guess it could be that the trailer, or tank isn't perfectly level. The tanks are typically large flat and shallow ( about 4" deep) so if it isn't level it can leave a pocket of air in the tank.

Good points Marshal: The TT may be slightly tilted towards the fill side, even though I tried to park it level.
