Sturgis 2022

It’s the 82 Second rally coming up this week prices are the same as 2020 . Sturgis has been averaging over 500,000 people the last two years and estimating higher attendance this year according to the reports. What’s exciting is my friend Richard the air flow invention guy is going with us for his first motorcycle rally.

We just happened by accident to end up at Sturgis in 2009 on our cross country trip. It was awesome!!

Rode my Street Glide to Sturgis in 2014 for my first time.
What a crazy trip!

Been back 3 times since, but the week before the rally.
Once was enough for the wild times during the rally. LOL

I was set on Osage Beach in Missouri for the Ozark Rally . I had seven days prime location and caught Covid from Hell in Tennessee cancel my reservation. The Ozark Rally is still on my bucket list .

That one is really nothing to write home about.

Don't miss Bikes, Blues, and BBQ though!
Lots of great riding in Northwest Arkansas.

We were in that area for a month and a half last year. In the site next to us two guys pulled in with Toy Hauler the day before the Rally. They had Florida tags and so we started talking. They were vendors, they sold and installed grips, axle covers and engine bolt covers made a from .357 Mag cases for Harleys. They set up shop at the Rapid City Harley dealership. We stopped by to check out their setup and next thing I know the DW has jumped in and is selling their stuff while they are doing installs and I am drinking beer. She was just trying to help them out but, he ended up paying her quite well so, everyday of the rally we were there. At the campground there were 3 other vendors and every night it was a big party. The Vendor wanted us to come back this year and work for him but we had already decided to head up to the Northeast. Funny thing was never made it up to Sturgis during the rally.

Spent a week in Ozark lake last year near Eureka Springs . I personally think that is some of the best bike riding in America . The roads are immaculate and some of the off beaten roads are still very good. I road the pig trail and have added Bikes, blues, and barbecue rally.

Sturgis and the surrounding area was packed with bikes The first weekend. Shade Valley was about half full but the chip was packed sold out Like the iron horse. Deadwood was jamming tonight as usual during Sturgis. It was 107 yesterday scorching hot but it didn’t stop us from riding. I have close to 1000 miles riding the roads. The cops are out . I managed to get pulled over thanks to the car next to me running a stop sign With the flow. The officer acted like why did I stop just warn me sad that’s how accidents happen.

I can’t believe the temps they’re getting up there right now. We were there less than a month ago and it was mid 70s. Great riding weather. It’s actually cooler in NM right now.

Good to hear you are enjoying it. I can't see how the Police would waste time trying to enforce anything other the DUI or Accidents it is too chaotic.

Last year when we were there it was crazy hot and there were days when the wildfires to the west would have it so smoky they we couldn't/wouldn't even go outside.

Sturgis was fun as usual. Not clear in the final tally though.

From the Black Hills Pioneer:
"Numbers for the first seven days of the 2022 Rally show vehicle counts down by about 5.5 percent from 423,573 vehicles last year to 400,341 this year. But throw in the five-year average and it shows vehicles entering Sturgis up by about 2.2%."
Keep in mind this is the number of actual bikes, not a total of attendees. I might also add that SD Highway Patrol stated that all accidents, deaths, and arrests were down from previous years.

The nice thing about Sturgis this year I met a few new people from around the country. I actually met a guy single guy just retired and has an amazing rig full times. He’s invited me to the Daytona 500 staying in his camper on the grounds. It will be my first NASCAR race and we’re excited. He is coming down to New Mexico this year and show him around my area .

That’s a nice rig to full time in. I used to work on them at a previous dealership.
