Tim -
On our Cougar, we can manually move the slide in and out by cranking it in whatever direction you want the slide to move.
First, you have to find the the location of where to place the crank. (On ours, we have to supply our own rachet/crank). We have one slide and our manual mechanism is located in the underbelly - about 18 in from the passenger side front wheel. There is a small cut-out in the black coroplast cover which has a "hinged" cover.
If you undo the cover, and peek inside, you should find the motor for the slide. Close to the motor is a shaft with a drive nut on the end. I believe it is either a 3/4 or 5/8 inch fitting.
Place a rachet over the nut and start cranking; however, .......
Before manually cranking the slide mechanism, you should disconnect the wires to the slide motor to prevent possible damage to it. (Or you can disconnect the battery).
If you cannot locate this little cutout, it should be in line with the slide roller that is closest to the front of the RV.
The location of yours may be in a different location since our model/year of Cougar is not the same.
Let us know if you can find the component I am talking about.
