I actually bought a rv gps last month. Put in the length, height, width of the trailer/tow vehicle. Seems to work ok, at times it will say that limits are unknown but no troubles.

Hwy numbers. Take the 210 out of Ontario, the I5 north, to 99...etc.

We use a Magellan 9145 unit that takes all the dimensions. So far, it has worked very well. Don't know if that model is still available, but there are others and other brands as well. We have been taken around low clearance situations a number of times since we've had it.

While I have no experience with the RV version, I've had the original auto version of Copilot for years. It works ok as an offline routing gps, although I find it to be short on detail and ability to zoom to wider views. For $50 bucks, it might be worth a shot before dropping hundreds on a dedicated rv gps

The problem with a cell phone based device is, they depend on cell towers for accuracy, which is pretty bad in a lot of places. A true GPS device gets it's bearings from satellites, so, regardless of where you are, in or out of range of cell towers, you will get the same accuracy all the time.

Gps for a large rv 5th wheel

Rand McNally makes an app for the iPad. It has to be an iPad that can be connected to a service provider i.e. Verizon, AT&T... It doesn't have to be connected but has to have the hardware inside. It was $99 last year when I bought it. I would link it here for you but it won't show because I'm on my iPhone.

Rand McNally makes gps for tractor trailers, so it's extremely customizable. Height, length, weight, and propane restrictions for some tunnels.

I know of no cell phones that have GPS apps and do not use GPS satellites for navigation.

Dual XGPS160 SkyPro GPS for iPhone/iPad

Look for the external GPS receiver from Dual (XGPS160 SkyPro). This unit is small, can sit on your dash or pinned to your hat, and interfaces via Bluetooth to the Location Services of the iPhone/iPad to improve your positioning to within 3' to 5'.

We use this GPS receiver in all our aircraft all the time; and it only costs about $70.

You could also choose the "Bad Elf" antenna.

Then you can use all your iPhone/iPad mapping apps.
