trying to upgrade to two batteries

new owner , first trailer and just bought a new laredo with enclosed 30 lb propane tanks.I am trying to add 2 - 6 volt batteries but have run into an problem, no room on tongue unless i run the box 7-8 inches out side frame.

Concerned when i jackknife it to park may damage my bumper , tanks are countersunk in frame, so cant place battery box frame to close to tanks otherwise will need to take batteries out every time i need to fill them.

enclosing 3 photos 2 of my trailer and one what the mod. would look like,
any ideas would be much appreciated

Don't know your trailer's weight or how much is on the tongue, but there are extended ball hitches out there. Equalizer setups also move the ball out further. Maybe that would help.

Hook up with WD/sway in place. Jack-knife it as much as possible... THEN place battery box where it would go... No-risk clearance test.

I ~doubt~ you'll have a problem. Because I think you'd have to go WAY tight on the turn to hit. But a test like I describe is FREE and will tell you for sure if you'd have a problem.

Would it be possible to leave the one battery in the existing tray and install the other battery on top of it? You'd have to move the top battery to check fluids and service the lower battery, but it would probably give you a much "cleaner" looking install. There's a post in the toy hauler section about installing 4 batteries in a compartment and he lowered the existing rack then installed the new ones above that position. It might be a consideration.

I have the exact same setup as you have shown in picture 3 with the end to end 6 volts tucked in tight right behind the tongue jack. I've cut in pretty tight to get in some spots and have never come close to the bumper. I'd suggest doing a safety check like SAD suggests.
