Reese goose-box bed clearance

Currently have standard pinbox and Ford puck system hitch and considering switching to a Reese goosebox and ball in the bed. My concern is the bed rail clearance I have heard is a concern, any experience with similar 5th wheel and truck? The last trip seemed very rough and the roads aren't getting better.

I switched from a PullRite 2600 single point hitch to the Reese Goosebox with no change in bed clearance, I think I'm at about 6 1/2". No issues. Same RAM truck with both hitches. My 5th is perfectly level according to my Starrett 98 machinery level.
You can buy different size (height) gooseneck balls.
