12 volt TV

I have a new to me 19 Passport GT 2520RL that I'm getting to know in preparation for Spring camping. The PO told me he could run the TV on 12 volts, but I can't figure out how. The TV has a 110 volt plug into a 110 volt socket. How can it work on 12 volts?

Maybe he used a small inverter to power it

He didn't mention using an inverter but that's the only way I see that it's possible.

12V TV? I'm not up on that as a mainstream RV appliance. I did have them back in the day when I boondocked in nowhere land but.....I don't want another one, and on that 12" screen it was sure hard to see the Cowboys in black and white....

Jensen makes a nice 12V tv. They were standard in Sun Seeker Class C’s. IIRC it was like a 40” screen.

Thanks Chuck. Yeah, I knew they were out there, just being a bit tongue in cheek.

Sounds like I don't have a 12 volt TV, and that's ok. I was just wondering if I was missing something.

Is there a 12vdc source next to the tv? If the PO used the tv via 12vdc then there would have to 12vdc power available nearby.

Our Suites came standard with a Samsung 40" 12 volt TV in the bedroom. Plugs into a duplex receptacle at the rear of the TV with a small inverter in-line. Yes, it is a Smart TV and has worked flawlessly going into the 5th year. No, you cannot run it on 12 volts without a small inverter.
