Schwintek Slide Owners

Our master bedroom slide in our 2022 Fuzion 428 stopped working. Brought it in and it sounds like our camper is part of a recall. It was unclear if it's been announced yet. I had not seen anything in the mail regarding it.

I guess Schwintek owners be on the lookout.

It sounded like you were talking about a recall on the schwintek system.

I was assuming that’s what they were referring to they were kind of vague when they said there’s a recall on it.

Was there any recall regarding master bedroom slides or anything like that?

I don’t know. I don’t work in a dealership service department any more. I’m in an auto/rv collision center, a complete change of work for me. Some diagnostic duties but more cutting up filon sides, pulling sheet metal and welding stuff back together.

I'm guessing Keystone doesn't publish these anywhere?

If it’s a keystone recall, it would be on the keystone website. If it’s a Lippert recall it would be on the Lippert website. Whoever initiated the recall would send letters to the affected owners.

Schwintek is Lippert, isn't it?

I read that thread and it sounds more like the trailer frame twisting causing the schwintek system to not operate correctly. If that’s the case it’s a Keystone issue.

I have been working on schwintek slides for over 10 years and while it has a few quirks, it is IMO a very reliable system.

For the record, there is a lot of different slide systems and I have had to work on just about every one of them. My favorite is electric through frame.

Yes it is, along with other systems.

This camper is the first camper we have had with this type of slide. The only thing I don't like about it, minus this issue of course is when you let off the button, it keeps going like a 1/4 of an inch or so.

Is that normal?

If you let go of the button before it gets to the “end of travel” the control box simply cuts of power to the motors and they may “glide” a small amount depending on the weight of the slide. The reason you should let the slide FULLy move and keep the button pressed is so the controller can sense amp draw and keep the motors synched.

So wait, I should keep my finger on the button and let it go as far as it needs/wants to and it will shut it self off? That won't damage anything?

Assuming you have no other issues like trailer wall tweaked, it’s designed to be ran until the motors amp out and the controller shuts the motors off.

When the slide reaches end of travel and the motors try to move the room, the amps go up and the controller senses that and shuts off the power to the motors.
The amount of force needed for the controller is adjustable but NOT by a customer. Lippert will tell you it’s preset and not adjustable.

Yes that is correct. Hold the bottom forn5 seconds when you send your slide out and bring it in. This keeps the motors synched up.
