Airstream in advetising
Seems like multiple vehicle manufactuerers are using Airstream trailers in their ads. Is it me or is Airstream getting free advertising I have seen them in ads from Ford Jeep and now Nissan. There might be more but it is just an observation.

I have no clue, but I would bet they (Thor) paid for “product placement”. You almost have to admit, a polished aluminum trailer looks sharp behind most any car, truck or SUV.

Considering that vehicle manufacturers are trying to tout themselves as American “classics”(regardless of brand origin), it makes sense that they would use another American classic in their advertising.
If the Airstream models shown in the ads are the brand new 2020 models, they likely paid a good price for product placement. If they are older classic models shown, it was probably just convenient....what would they be advertising?

Very plausible that that is true, I agree that polished aluminum does pop.

"Iconic" image, lightweight, and my guess they paid a tidy sum to get it in the ads.

And they are targeting 2 groups at once. People who can afford an airstream. And those hipsters that want anything vintage.

Plaid shirt, Skinny jeans Timberlands, beard and a......well you know certain unmentionable hair style, don't even know the right side of a chainsaw.
Back on topic Thor seems like they have lines that compete with each other as well as within the Keystone division.

Thor and Winnebago seem to be the 2 major players anymore after Winnebago bought Grand Designs and now Newmar motorhomes.

Well if Airstream made a fifth wheel, you could have a (your choice of DRW) towing a nice Airstream and a sweet Chris Craft boat..that would just about cover it I think!

Airstream actually did make a fifth wheel for a short time. In 1988 it was called the "argosy" and in 1989 the "land yacht". A total of 125 were built.

The talk is that Airstream is losing their luster to that fact that 1) they are now corporate (Thor)
And 2) the quality is now also Thor
The re-fab market is high and in Our neck of the woods they are now building new - retro trailers at Flyte-camp

Back in the late 70's, Brunswick (same company that's "big" in bowling) bought Airstream. They ran it into the ground and nearly destroyed the entire line. Look up some of the frame problems, floor problems in the 69-80 Airstreams and you'll think that Keystone has all their stuff "together" compared to the issues Airstream had. So, as with any "brand" there are ups and downs and Airstream is no different. It's come a long LONG way toward returning to the Wally Byam era. You can "thank (or cuss) THOR for the improvements.

Using vintage vehicles in adds is in vogue these days. I'm in an Early Bronco forum and those of us that have good specimens are being inundated with offers to use our cars as photo props with millennials.
It's almost as annoying as the notes on the windshield asking if it's for sale.

Has anyone else noted the commercial for the Celebrity Cruises with the "White Rabbit" (Grace Slick/Jefferson Airplane) song playing? Every time I see it I'm amazed that they use such a pro drug song to promote the cruise line.
I guess I'm getting old.

There were a LOT of songs from the 60's and 70's that were "covert" drug use/sex/revolution inspired. I'm really surprised, even today, that Roberta Flack's song, "Killing Me Softly" was ever allowed in that "modest era"... Not to mention the Kingston Trio, Rolling Stone, even Olivia Newton John... Lots of "double meanings in lyrics" with some "openly rebellious ones as well"....
But at their worst (or best) they can't hold a candle to today's era RAP lyrics... YIKES !!!!!
