Rocking trailer

My bullet seems to rock a lot , I put wheel chocks on both sides ,put the jacks down and give a half a turn more when they bottom out , is that because it's so high off the ground and my jacks are extended out far ?? Do those chocks you put inbetween the wheels help?? Any suggestions? ⛄⛄⛄⛄⛄

I'm glad to see that one of us is having a good time camping.

Seriously, Yes the chocks between the wheels do help and any other devise that limits movement of suspension or stabilizers.

wow got yourself outta that one!!! our minds are always in the gutter. yes chock them both for many reasons. one is to help stop the rocking and 2 with both sides locked the trailer will not move easily or try to pivot around the chocked one.ask me how i know!

  • Chock both tandems on both sides of the trailer.
  • Place cribbing under stabilizer jacks to reduce their extension.
  • Tighten stabilizer jacks more than 1/2 turn - 1 or two is good.
  • Use the search function here to find tons more info on stabilizing your trailer.

Snow, Sorry for all the abuse. If you want the trailer rock solid, try a search like Steve suggested. You may want to invest in JT Strong Arms or Steady Fast systems. Maybe someone else with a spread axle trailer can give more advise on X-chocks. Travel safely, Hank

I have new x-chocks by BAL and they are good.
but sitting in my living room floor is a box with the Steadyfast system in it. I opened it last night and inventoried the parts. ready to start installing it this weekend. I will only get to the front end as I dont have a welder to get the back side done with slide out bikerack. I will let you know about this system once its toally installed.

Some 5ers have a lot of play in their landing gear and a higher center of gravity gives extra motion that chocks alone don't take away. Four corner stabilizers plus the tongue jack may make a TT a little less shaky. This is only my opinion from trailers I have owned. Hank

I stopped my rocking..

I mounted me 2 BAL sissor jacks in the center of my frame, in front of the wheels on each side of my 35' TT and it snugged it perfectly. Now you can expand the family without rocking the trailer off of the camp site!

you can aslo use a sissor jacks between the wheels (side ways onto each tire) has the same affect at the x-chock. stops the back to front movment but you still get movement left to right.
