Camping Season

I was just thinking that there isn't an "Official Camping Season" day to start it all. We have duck season, rabbit season, fall, spring, Fat Tuesday. Where's Camping Season? I'm wondering if everyone out there has their own start to the season, or is it simply weather dependent? Can you imagine having a specific calander day for camping season, where everyone is fighting to get off work, and calling in sick, and " I can't talk right now it's Camping Season". Driving through the neighborhood and people are flinging things out the front door towards the the truck all in a hurry to start "Camping Season". I always read and hear " I can't wait for Camping Season". Sooooooo when is your Camping Season?

For me, it's whenever I can come up with time off and family or friends to go camping with. I hope one day, in the not-too-distant-future to be a full-time camping season person. If we could get Hallmark to see a potential in card sales there would be a specific day!!!

For us, camping season starts the week of spring break, usually mid March in Alabama for high schools. We still have one in school but this the last year that for that and camping season may change. We take a trip about every 6 weeks until we wind it up in November. Some of those trips are 3 and 4 day weekends around holidays.

Our camping season starts when the weather breaks and when it dries up enough to get the camper out of the yard. It's usually late march early april and we camp until late october.

Mine starts on January 1st, and ends on December 31st. Now that I RV, I’m *always* seeing motorhomes and trailers cruising the local freeways…and feel that twinge of jealousy since my trailer isn’t following *me*.

Ours usually starts mid May and runs till late October to early November. We usually pull the trailer out of storage in April. Most of the campgrounds around us don't even open till mid to late April.

Coming Soon! Camping Season!

Our camping season will start when I finish some modifications - and when I get the storage basement walls re-attached, the wiring sticking out of various drilled holes and Dremel cuts connected, and the coroplast once again secured on the bottom. Oh yes, have to reconnect the shore power to the ATS replacement and power everything up. At that time, I'm under some severe pressure not to start anything else by the DW so we can get out and enjoy!

But there's always just that one more thing . . .

My family's camping season starts on Wednesday April 4th. My youngest daughters Spring break week. Plus that weekend is Easter and we always head some where to camp. ]
If Rockingham Racetrack was still around that would start my camping season, but its not so wethe family go Spring Break.

May 1 - Oct 15-ish

It gets cold here quick. Not worth freezing a pipe or water heater. Plus most campgrounds are not open and have water off outside of these dates.

Usually May 24 (Victoria Day Long Weekend in Canada) is about the earliest we can get out; more often than not, it runs early June until the end of September or so... sometimes a bit into October but after that the Cougar goes to sleep for the winter.

Camping Season

Mine starts April 28th in a state park in Wisconsin, As im typing the weather man is saying rain, rain snow mix , snow north of Milwaukee, I think i will turn my back to the north and look south, I am so ready for weather above 60.
I think maybe today before the rain gets here i will take the RV inspection sheet from this site, And and go check a few things off the list, Alittle here and a little there.

The weatherman is calling for up to 7" tonight/tomorrow, possibly ice mixed with snow, maybe 1/4" in places. Predicting some power outages, winds up to 45MPH. I'd say winter finally will hit us. We usually start camping around Memorial day, often get the trailer ready a couple of weeks before, but that's always a seasonal judgement as it often freezes into early/mid June. We've chipped ice off the boat ramps as many Memorial Day "bass openers" as not. Always go to one specific remote lake in the UP for opening weekend. Depending on whether or not others might be there, definitley don't want to get "stranded on an icy boat ramp, sliding backwards..... LOL

Hopefully, we will get the trailer out of storage the end of April or early in May and be ready to hit the roads and campgrounds when it stays above freezing at night...

Well for me we start dry camping at motorcycle races the 1st week of march. Hey wait that next week I better get my sh%t together. The part I hate is checking the weather every night after the 1st race wondering if I should winterize it again. This usually goes on till April.
