Alpine 3700 fl load norcold fridge

I have a 2019 Alpine 3700fl . It has the Norcold 2118sst fridge in it. My last rvs have had a residential box so this is new to me . Dose the Norcold run all the time ? The last trip out over Thanksgiving . it seamed the unit never shut off. Ice remained cold and everything was cold in the refrigerator area.

Norcold 2118 series is an RV refer that operates on either AC heating elements or an LP flame. As long as you have 12VDC going to the control board, it will operate.

You can choose to have the cooling process be electric or gas. Choosing AUTO will allow the control board to choose, AC being the first choice. RV refers do not have a compressor like a residential unit, they are an absorption unit that uses heat transfer.

it does “stop running” in a sense. The control board will, turn off the heating elements or shut off the flame, once the temp rises, it will turn it back on. The light in the refer and the fans inside the fridge and freezer continue to operate.

There are at least three fans, one outside and 1each in the freezer and refrigerator. The outside fan is dependent on the outside temperature, not sure of the inside programing but they do cycle and there is a built in defrost cycle. Get a remote thermometer for the freezer and refrigerator. With the unit set on 6 the freezer stays 5 to 8 deg F and the refrigerator swings between 33 and 40 depending on the addition of warm or cold beer. Always buy COLD beer and watermelon.

We do the vacuum seal thing for burger and stakes. It takes about 2 days for the freezer to settle down after adding 10 to 15 lbs to the freezer.
