Gen box off bumper

I have a 2004 24.9' sprinter and was interested in puting a box off the back bumper for my gen. The bumper on this trailer is solid ( so it seems ). Has anyone had any experiance with this bumper ? I know that some have had issues, but are all bumpers made the same?? If anyone has any ideas about a 100 lb gen off it i would love the feed back!
Thanks guys!

Bob

I think the general feeling about adding any extra weight that is only supported by the bumper is not pursue this. Many RVers have a receiver hitch welded to the frame of the RV and then added a bike rack or some kind of aluminum box.
There are numerous post on the forum which describe the modifications that have been done and many have photos of the new addition.
Try doing a forum search and you should find some good information about this topic.

From someone that has ripped off a bumper on an interstate with a hitch hauler and genset sitting on it..... Without appropriate frame reinforcement... I personally think it's a pretty bad idea. However, we use a bumper mount bike rack for our genset WHILE STATIC, SITTING AT PARKED LOCATION with our genset sitting on it. Have previously posted pics of the Boliy while at Richmond, without bouncing down the road we have had no problems.
