Anybody done Atlanta yet?

I've got a couple choices for avoiding Atlanta but was wondering if anyone has experienced it yet. I'll be northbound on I-85 and was planning on taking the 285 loop around the south side.

Only went through Atlanta once in recent years. We were heading to Florida on my wife's Spyder with trailer. It was mid-day and still a nightmare. On our way home we crossed Alabama and came up through Mississippi. From what I've heard on the news they have a bridge closed and a major highway closed so it is likely to be worse.

It really depends on what time you will be coming through Atlanta

You will have to take I-285 until at least end of May. From I-85 take I-285 East, the traffic is a bit better than if you take I-285 West.

I should have been more clear. Has anyone driven through Atlanta since the bridge collapse? Is the traffic on loop 285 affected?

Thank you. Is the traffic tolerable? Saturday better than weekdays, I hope?

I'll go 100 miles out of the way to avoid Atlanta! Before the two road problems I MAY have tried it between 2am and 4 am on weekends only.

It is not as bad as I thought it would be, however, events and timing in the day can make it bad. If you can time your drive between 9:30am - 3:30pm, that would be the best. Of course before or after rush hour would work too.

Avoid it if you can Atlanta is bad before 185 bridge. I was travelling north on I 85 and got off and went through Nashville and then Louisville coming out in Cincinnati long way around but saw some new country. I was in Ashburn Alabama when I heard about the Atlanta bridge happened the day before we were to hit Atlanta. They said to avoid if at all possible

What about taking I-59 up to I-81 and across I-64 to Richmond? Avoid Atlanta altogether.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. But I just drove that less than a year ago.
Atlanta before the bridge collapse never seemed to me as bad as what some folks said. But I've driven Houston for 50 years. Maybe I just hit it right.
We're going to give it a shot Saturday. I'll let ya know.

Drove it today. Not bad at all. Of course it being Saturday at 10am helped. Took 285 loop eastbound back around to I85 north.
