Install of patio support leg ...
Anyone have one of the newer patio kits that incorporates the new support leg to the ramp/door/patio? I am curious how they mounted it. I assume its just self tapping screws through the aluminum edge just like the patio cables or step mounts but wanted to verify. Also, anyone know essentially what I am drilling into or in other words what layers the patio door has in it? Not sure if they might be doing a full bolt through but doubt it ...
The background is I have the patio kit on my Fuzion 420 but after having used it a lot I just dont feel it is supported properly. I can see a little bit of bow in it in the center. Water puddles the few times it does get wet so have to sweep it. The stairs support it a little but less than you would think as when someone steps out towards the edge the leverage forces the legs out rather than down and thus essentially off the ground so does little. I have a buddy who is on his second door due to it warping too much.
I ordered and just received LCI part 35372 - "ASSEMBLY; PATIO DOOR SUPPORT LEG, BLACK" $140 and will be installing it soon so will followup with how it works out. I plan on putting it near the center close to the stairs which is also the middle of where the cables are on mine. It looks like a nice piece and the leg is essentially a long screw so it adjust and like how it folds up and stores otherwise would support with something more creative.

If the center is sagging, installing the legs won't help as they are on the outside edge of the door. I know it sounds like a pain but you might consider a 2x6 with carpet on either the flat or edge whichever way you want to use it and support it spanning the center of your ramp. You could support it with jack stands or something comparable.

The leg I have can be installed anywhere as it just two flush mount brackets (one load bearing and the other for the fold up latch) to a flat surface. I will be installing it in the center as mentioned so it certainly will help.

Attached is a sample pic they sent me and how I plan to do it ... if folds out from left to right so will be in the center.

Sorry, I thought by the way you explained it you was wanting to put the leg in the center of the door literally, not on the outer edge in the center as shown in this pic. I just misunderstood!

How much adjustment is on the leg? our patio can be 6' off the ground at one place and touching the ground at the next. I imagine that it is like the removable step, you need to be on close to level ground for it to work?

I dont think they have come out with the version that will float in a creek yet but after seeing your pic I think they should
I was told the one I have is 48in max. Only reason I even know this as the original one they recommended was part 404457 - "Shorter Assembly Patio Door Support Leg Black" and just before ordering noticed the "shorter" in the description and knew there was nothing short about my patio height on the 420 model and when they researches that one is 36in max.
Would probably be fairly easy to find the primary square tube and fairly easy fab job to use the remaining parts for about as long as a leg as you want. I did similar with my patio steps already as their legs (1.5in x 2in aluminum 1/8in wall)were never long enough even when in a camp ground:

Thanks for the part numbers. Looking forward to seeing how this works out.
I use the side patio in our 420 daily, so I would love one for it. But the side patio height off the ground is higher than the rear I'm certain

WOW! So glad did this, it is nearly rock solid now in my first test even without any side rails latched in.
I cut about two inches off main body as was a little long for camp spot and the adjustable leg has room for more holes to go even longer . I know this one is 36in min and probably 5ft max with adding some holes.
It came with tape on the mount brackets so basically hold assembly up and let it stick and can then easily drill all holes. I used self tapping #10 as biggest to fit their holes and 1.25in long is as long as you want to go. It needs to go to bottom of the outer aluminum.
However don’t trust the way they have it assembled. I now see they had the pivoting leg in wrong hole for direction I want it to swing so thus drilled my holes off and when I fold it back up for travel it does not align to secure. No biggie I can drill a new hole.. in other words it’s a little tricky to visualize it all so triple check. One nice thing is when secure it for travel it does have enough gap to go over my step mount brackets so that was nice and this allowed me to center it.

Ramp use?
How does this affect the use of the ramp when loading/unloading motorcycles? It looks like it might actually hold the door up a few inches when the ramp is down?

It does stick out about 2in from the mounting surface when folded, so if using it on a door that is also being used as a ramp it would usually hit the ground first. Would just place one or two of the commonly carried jack pads under your existing door bumpers used to keep it off the ground to make up the difference. Should still be able to "get over the hump" on a motorcycle but if creates too large of a step the next work around is to use more of the stackable jack pads, plywood, or similar to make a slight ramp. At some point you might have to do this anyway if not on level ground and/or an angle so should be prepared for this anyways. Easy work arounds ...

Doesn't seem LCI has either part number available anymore. Can't find any dealer with a NOS either.
Even searching LCI under the support leg keyword, nada.

Part numbers change from time to time (sometimes with no link to the new parts) and very often, parts are simply discontinued with no further support from the manufacturer.
You might consider calling Lippert's Customer Support to get information.
They are open Monday - Friday: 8AM - 7PM (ET), Saturday: 9AM - 5:30PM (ET) at 432-LIPPERT (432-547-7378).
This may be one of those situations where "shoulda bought them 3 years ago when the manufacturer had them for sale."
