Dometic Brisk Air II Freezing Up

I have a dometic 15000 btu brisk air II ac that ices up. I have cleaned the air filters, cleaned the evaporator and the condenser coils. I leave the ac on 75 on high speed and also tried auto with temperatures in the upper 80's and sometimes humid and it still will ice up. I just redid the area to make sure the intake air and return air were no longer getting mixed as I heard that was an issue too. I am not sure what else to try. I have read through searches that if it is a freon issue, it is cheaper or easier just to buy a new unit. Unfortunately, my camper is 3 years old, so the 2 year warranty is up. I do have a freeze sensor in the coils, but it does not shut down the unit. The way we know it is iced, is when ice starts to break up and we hear it in the return air area and the vents. It still blows cold, but will always ice no matter what I try or regardless of outside temperature. They unit is draining, so that is not the problem. I do not post a lot, but always visit for great information. Before I bite the bullet and buy a whole new unit, I thought I would try and get some last minute advise. We just spent the weekend camping with friends and again, my unit iced up and theirs did not. We set everything up the same as they did.

My was doing g the same thing. When I moved the freeze sensor up closer to the top of the coil it stopped doing g it. That was 2 years ago

Really? I did not even think of doing that. I am up for trying anything to avoid buying another unit, I will try that next. Someone also suggested I replace the thermostat and the control panel.

Thanks, I am open to other suggestions if anyone else has had the same problem.

Not uncommon for the freeze sensor to fall out of the coils. I've found more than one hanging.

My freeze sensor was not hanging, it was placed about 1-2 inches from the bottom on the right on the outside. The ice is forming on the other side of where the freeze sensor is placed. The top of the ice is higher than where the freeze sensor is placed and the ac will continue to run, it will not cycle off. I have to turn it off manually. The ice seems to form at the bottom and work its way up, once it gets high, pieces will fall off and then that is when we hear it and turn it off. I hope all of this makes sense.

I'd follow Terry W's advice and move it up. Sure won't hurt anything and may fix your issue. Cheap too! #winning Good luck!
