Well with the help of the pics posted earlier in the thread, I have mama giving me the green light on this mod as soon as I can find a table and chairs on clearance that somewhat matches the inside color. It scares me to think about ripping something outa this new trailer, but I really like the table and chairs over the dinette set. Very cool post, thanks!

Well, I got a good price on one off the lot. If I would have ordered .... free standing table and chairs ... for sure.

With five days to go before our one month trip I find it hard to believe how much usable room we gained by removing the booth. I will make some cosmetic improvements when we return but for now we are very pleased. If Mama is happy every body (Me) is happy. Hank

Removed our booth dinette yesterday. Took all of about 20 minutes to pull everything out. We slide a loveseat in where the booth was. We usually just use a couple of tv trays to eat from. Gained quite a bit of room without the booth there.

Booth removal

That really looks like a nice solution. You get the best of both worlds.
Our 318SAB has the table and chair option because we did not like the booth.
Your table looks a little more stable than ours. Ours is wobbly and people on both sides of the table are a bit crowded. You solution looks as if it has a bit more legroom.

Good looking job

We have been living with it for a week now and love it. I'm sitting at the desk right now. The chairs did need cushions even though we have developed muscles that enable us to sit for long periods of time. Sliding in and out of that booth was not comfortable at all. This will make another three weeks of low 80's with 76 degree Gulf temperatures a little more bearable. ,Hank

Cool mod.

I like it. Took my U shaped dinnette out of our 2590BH today. Didn't get the boss' permission b/c I knew she would be skeptical about it, but we both hate the dinnette.

Took it out to make space and see how much room I have to work with (took about 20 mins). Amazing difference in room.

I haven't finalized plan to replace it yet but I am thinking 2 comfortable chairs with footstools or maybe a couple of small recliners. For eating maybe a small folding table or some TV trays.

We bought a 2012 Cougar 297RKS and i came with the Booth Dinette. Part of the puchase was a cost splitting deal to have the booth removed and a factory dinette and chairs put in.
We are really happy with the work done, the RV tech did a great job.

hankpage, Howdy;

I like what ya did to the place...
From what I see in the pix your slide an mine (2008 278RKS), should be the same. Had ya thought about faceing the table to the window ??? As it's just me an the pooch it dosen't matter about sittin at the table an watchin' tv. He don't care for it, and I use it mostly for background noise...

Does look like it makes it easier to open that window!

Hank, I did try it that way, but unlike Rascal the DW had some input and liked it this way. Now she wants it free standing. Keeps me busy, Hank .... (Hank, is there an echo in here, Hank)

Hank, Rascal has input as well. Only not as much as I do. If I get neighbors then I'd probably NOT want to look at them while having my morning cup-a-joe, or have watching while I attempt to tye a fly or 2..

This is a great idea! It's just me and the dog so we don't need a dinette. Maybe I'll pull it out, get the dog a big bed and a nice recliner for myself.

He knows better than that. Even when I invite him up on furniture he won't get comfortable and hops back down
