Towing 291TG with Silverado

I will be towing a 2011 Laredo 291TG with a 2008 Silverado Vortec Max with tow package and 6.0 engine. I have purchased an Equal-i-zer hitch rated at 10000lbs and 1000lbs bars. Truck is rated to tow 8400.

Any opinions on this setup are appreciated. I think this should be ok

I have used an Equal-I-zer brand hitch on my last 2 TT and I love it! It doesn't hinder you on tight turns and very simple to hook up.

I think you will be happy with it.

I'm using the Reese Dual Cam or Strait-Line depending on who your talking too. I got the round bar 1200#, the next in line was 800# and I thought that wasn't quite enuff. I hardly know its even back there.

Weight wise sounds like you will be OK. However when I had my Hemi Dodge towing our old TT at about the same weight, I was not comfortable with the ride or sudden stops. Now bear in mind we did go to Florida from Ohio a couple of times, and lots of local trips for about five years with that set up. I was always a little nervous, though we never had any problems, I took my time and enjoyed the ride. I think you will be fine, if you take your time. Happy Camping, Sam

I've got to agree with SLIM. The 1200 & dual cam is the way to go. However, a reply last night to this post did strongly disagree with the 1200. To each there own, but I'm a strong believer that to much is better than to little & overloading the front axle is pretty unusual!

We use the Equal-i-zer hitch as well and we love it. It's easy to hook up and unhook and like THedges said not a problem with tight turns or backing into tight spots. It can be a little noisy do to the friction sway control of the bars but not really that noticable when traveling down the road. It's more at slower speeds and backing. If it's set up right you should be very happy with it. Our trailer is 30' and used to pull it with a 1/2 ton and the trailer never swayed or pushed the back of the truck around with passing semi's or gusty winds.

I just picked up the 303TG towing with the 5.7l V8 Tundra. Had the Reese Dual Cam w/ sway (not sure if that a repetative statement, but whatever) with the 1,200# bars. Seemed to work just fine.

I have the 291tg(just got it a week ago) Towed it home with the dual cam system and 800 lb trunnion bars. Worked like a charm. Not loaded yet but I feel that the bars weren't even stressed a bit so it should work nicely once loaded. I am towing with a 2011 1500 Ram 8200 lb capacity. Hopefully this is not an issue once I become fully loaded but I have the feeling it won't.
