Our new to us Everest

We have just joined this forum since either today or tomorrow we will be taking delivery of a 2007 Everest at Alliance Coach in Lake Park, GA. We are moving up from a 1991 Avion by Fleetwood 30' fiver, which was starting to turn into a money pit. Needs a new roof and who knows what will be next. Ann and I are both recently retired RN's and are off to see the country for at least 6-9 months.

The Everest is the 293P and has so much more room even though it is only 2 feet longer. My only quandry at this point is that they took in the unit as a trade and didn't do much until they had a buyer. (Us)

The batteries were old group 34's that were totally dead and had not been charged for a long time. The dealer replaced them with one group 27 deep cycle. Is that going to be enough juice for occaisional boondocking or should I ask for two 34's instead? Given the config of the battery compartment that is all that would fit.

Hope some of you can help me.

Welcome,
I cant help you on that question. I have one battery and it will probably be dead in two weeks when I pull my camper out of storage. Its 3 years old now.. seems to be the life of mine.
Good luck on your retirement trips.

Congratulations on the new E. I'm not sure about the battery issue. We have the dual battery set up in ours. Have you tried "everest-owners.com" I am sure someone there with the same rig can help you. We have a 2005 344J, bought it new and love it. We even did 3 years of full timing while looking for a place to settle into retirement. Nothing better than being on the road with your RV!!!!!

First, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new-to-you Everest. I'm not sure how much dry camping you intend on doing or for how many days you will be without shore power. For 3-4 days, you should be able to get by with a single Group 27 battery with prudent use of anything that draws from it - lights, pump, etc.

You might want to consider two things if you are going to continue to dry camp:
1) switching out your present incandescent lights with LED's; and,
2) installing 2-6v batteries instead of a single or two 12v's. Again, not sure about how much room you have.

We have a sticky on LED lighting on the forum which can be found in the Modifications and Upgrades section. You might find this worthwhile reading.

Good luck and safe travels.

Two 6 voltes will give you what you need. The one deep cycle might give you a couple days of dry camping if you take it really easy on battery use, but not much more.
