Maybe those diesel F250's will finally get a sticker that takes them out of the "anemic" category!

Not sure reattaching the windshield will affect the payload too much, even on a Ford??

Yep...separate issues.

In addition to loose windshields, Ford also issued a recall Monday for its 2020 Super Duty for exaggerating the capabilities of its trucks, which could result in suspension problems and risk of injury.

Ford said it overstated payload capacity values on the tire and loading information label, accessory reserve capacity values on the safety certification label, and weight values on the truck camper loading documentation.

"If the vehicles are loaded to the payload stated on the tire and loading information label, they may exceed the gross vehicle weight rating or gross axle weight rating," Ford said. "This may result in tire loading beyond rated capacity, suspension overload and increased stopping distance, which could increase the risk of a crash."

The labeling recall affects 9,979 of 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles in the U.S. and federal territories and 1,750 in Canada. All were built at the Kentucky Truck Plant from May 13, 2019, to Sept. 19, 2020.

Ford said it is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to this situation.

The company will notify affected owners the week of March 22, and dealers will replace safety labels.

A person could have a good argument for a buyback from Ford .if I did everything I was supposed when shopping for a certain truck for a specific fifth wheel and looked at the door sticker and a factory issued and placed sticker on it said it could handle “x lbs” and I bought it for that reason I would be pissed off. If it’s under 100 lbs it might not be that bad but what if it’s a 500 Lb difference.

My 2008 Escalade got a recall for the heated windshield wiper fluid... they tricked me when I took it in for a oil change and said” hey while your here there is a service bulletin for the wiper fluid tank...”we can take care of it and we GM will give you a $100 for the inconvenience of having it done” ..I said sure go ahead.
The fix was they disabled and disconnected it. .. now I have a switch on a brand new car on the console /dash that doesn’t work. It was a crappy way to fix the problem...now I have a broken luxury car for just $100..I cussed up one side and down the other and they wouldn’t budge and wouldn’t hook it back up...I don’t even know what they did to disable it....I went on the Cadillac forum and most of the guys were not going to get the recall done and were hoping the car burned down so they could get a 2009 or 10... really does suck playing by the rules sometimes but what are ya gonna do

Heated wiper fluid???!!! Really?!!! That's why they make fluid that handles well below freezing temps, for us that don't have the "heated fluid" - Good Grief!!!

Lol I didn’t ask for it. It came with it .. it was just the point that most recalls make your car better after the recall ..not worse. If they make the truck less capable after the recall then that isn’t right IMO

Looks like it could make it worse instead of better.

Mine has the 10,800 GVWR to help make up for the awesome engine up front. The sticker is just pencil whipped derating to create fake separation in the models.

Yep, they try to lower my payload rating and Ford will likely soon own a slightly used 250.

Well your F250 is already a Class 3 truck, so if you bought it for cheaper registration cost you didn’t like save anything.
It will be interesting to see how much difference they are talking about, 100# or is it 500#? What I am saying is it a little misleading or a lot misleading?
Once you pass 10,000# GVWR, you are class 3 and then get the largest GVWR you can a SRW.

There was no 350 within 500 miles of me that met my specs at the time, and since it is the same truck with a different badge and stickers, I just went with the 250. The registration did not add any additional cost so that was not a factor in my decision.

All three of the truck manufacturers are (or have recently) upped the GVWR on their 3/4 ton models. When I first saw it on a Chevy or GMC (can't remember which one it was) the GVWR was rated at 10800 pounds. I thought to myself, "Now that's illegal, I wonder how they're getting away with it?"....

Then I saw it on a RAM and also on a Ford, so I thought, "OK, when did the federal government change the weight rules for truck classes?"....

As I understand it, trucks are built by the manufacturers to fit a specific class. If they change the GVWR and put the truck in a different class, then it's no longer "the other class"... Where it really gets "fouled up" is when you start mixing classes and the federal emissions categories get crossed. There's a reason why a TPMS is "required on a specific truck and exempt on the next truck"... As an example, TPMS not required on F350 dually, required on F350 SRW.

I wonder if this recall is based on "tires, axles and brakes" not meeting the requirement for the "upgraded class" based on the "new GVWR" where the same equipment does meet the "original classification" (in this case, the 10K GVWR) but when the "class was crossed, those items no longer were certified for the new classification" ???

There's got to be a "penalty" for crossing classes with the same truck... As an example, a Class 2 GVW is 10K and is a class 2b EPA... If the GVW is upped to 10400, it's a class 3 both in GVWR and EPA... How can the "same truck be in two classes? As I understand it, (heard about it but have never seen one), RAM has one 2500 series that was offered with a 12,800 GVWR ????

At least when all three manufacturers started "jumping the 10K GVWR in 3/4 ton models, it made no sense to me. Of course, what do I know ?? LOL

Here's how the federal government has classed trucks:

Here's how the federal government has classed trucks:
I don't think Ram has passed the 10,000# GVWR on their 2500's. That 12,800# 2500 would be 500# more than their current 3500 SRW GVWR.

I heard about that GVWR in a conversation but like you, haven't seen it in any chart or on any truck. It might be a unicorn, it might be "internet legend" that's why I posted it as, "(heard about it but have never seen one), RAM has one 2500 series that was offered with a 12,800 GVWR ????"

My "unsolved puzzle" is how can they "cross the weight class GVWR's with the EPA GVWR's" and still meet both criteria ??? If a class 2b truck requires "X" emission systems and is required to be "under 10,000 pound GVWR, when you increase the GVWR to 10800, it is no longer a class 2b truck. Doesn't that also increase the GVWR for emissions systems ??? To me, that's like having your cake and eating it too.... Hmmm

Based on the following statement, your chances of having one of the affected trucks, are greater than your chance of winning the lottery. Less than 10,000 trucks out of four month run.

"Separately, Ford is recalling 9,979 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks that were built at the Kentucky Truck Plant from May 13, 2019 to, Sept. 19, 2020 to replace labels printed with incorrect payload and reserve accessory capacity figures along with incorrect truck camper loading documentation."

More like 16 months but I get what you are saying. How many do they typically pump out in a month?
