Thanks. I'm thinking the Courier may have been what we had as company trucks rather than Ranger.
Later we did have a fleet of Rangers. Fairly good service from them, especially considering how we deliberately abused them.

But the sales critter at the RV dealership said no problem.....I see so many undersized TVs pulling travel trailers and fifth wheels in the area where I reside (a heavily visited tourist area).

I see on another social media site people asking if their 2500/250 can pull X brand of fifth wheel that, depending on the model will top out at 18,000-19,000 pounds normally loaded. No, the weight police tells them. But, the sales guy said it would be fine....

Middle son was a tow truck in Ft. Lauderdale, so I HAD to tell him about the tow truck I saw one night (yes, it had a load). A Ford Ranger set up as a TOW TRUCK! Son asked, "what, they are for, towing Cooper Mini's and the 'Smart car' "?? I HAD a Ranger - 2004, I think, and loved it. Just didn't have any sort of tow capacity - I think it was rated for about 4500 pounds, max. But, it was great in that flippin' blizzard we got, where I drove home from work at 1AM (hotels were all full!!) through 2 ft of snow and still falling fast and heavy. Never went faster than 20MPH, but it plowed right through that heavy, wet snow in 4 wheel drive.

I don't know if things are rated different or not but in Australia a Ranger is common for 5th wheels.

Saw this pulling what looked like a 30-32 footer. Looks like front wheels barely touching

I had a 79 Courier. Only truck I ever bought new until my current ride. I used it to commute 55 mi. each way to work daily. 4cyl. 5 speed, one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Drove it 90,000 mi. and never put a dime in it other than tires. Avg. 35 mpg.

Also had a '78 Ranger. Back then it was a trim package on my F150, similar to what Lariat is now. That was a 4x4, 400 cu. V8 and in addition to plowing a lot of snow would tow pretty good.

Course now I'll never own anything but a 1 ton diesel.

I still have an 86/87 Ford Ranger w/V6 2.9 fuel injection that I procured for $500 cash in 2007. It gets me to town and back a couple times a week. It reminds me of the EverReady Bunny rabbit, it just keeps going. In fact, I borrowed it to my nephew about a month ago. He drove 260 miles a day, commuting to a new job he got (I thought that was crazy). I just got it back, and it's no worse for the wear. A beast, a small beast, but a beast.

Just because you can or the name says half ton towable doesn’t mean you should.

A half ton may be able to tow a commercial jet, but doesn’t mean you should.

But it’s the buyers money and your choice.
We are all free to make those choices.

True. But truth in advertising is still virtuous, if not mandatory. Most of Keystone's "Half Ton Towable" line shouldn't be sporting that decal.

Yep.
Half-Ton Towable... Maybe on paper, but no extra wiggle room.
Truck weights will me maxed out before the RV Limit is reached on one of the half ton towable rigs.

That’s why I tow my Cougar Half Ton towable 5th wheel with my F350. But that’s my choice.

How is for tow power?
https://cdllife.com/2020/motorhome-t...shift-trailer/

I think if you look closely the guy on the far right has a police vest on standing in front of what looks like a police car. I can hear the officer saying "what the hell were you thinking with this?".

So tired of seeing this kind of rampant stupidity EVERYWHERE!
Reminds me of when I was researching a new TV, which led me to UBOOB videos reviewing RAM 2500's alongside RAM 2500 Power Wagons. Not the same animal or created to serve the same purpose. So of course in the comments you eventually run into "that guy". " Bolted some air bags in my 2019 PW and it pulls my 14K 5ver without issue." Let's see... Barely 1500 lb. payload, check. A shade over 10K tow capacity, check. Yea,bro, you're good to go.
Someone remind me of the branch hierarchy falling out of the stupid tree...
Ignoramus
Moron
Imbecile
Idiot
Whatever the order, that guy certainly falls into at least one.
