Domestic Refrigerator Question

I have a Dometic Refer in my 2012 Alpine 5th wheel. After camping trips, should I keep my wheeler plugged to shore power and leave the refer turned on until the next trip? (We live in GA and take it out on average 6 times a year.) I've heard both sides of this question from other campers and am looking for a reliable answer.

Re: Domestic Refrigerator Question

Either way is fine. If you unplug just make sure the refer doors are open to allow air circulation.

I keep my fiver in my back yard, plugged in with refer off and doors open. If you stay plugged in be sure to check the water level in the battery(s) on a regular basis.

Re: Domestic Refrigerator Question

We keep ours plugged in from April until Oct. we took it out 19 times this year. The main reason to leave it plugged in is that is 19 times I do not have to empty and then restock the fridge. Never had an issue. If you think about it, no different than someone who parks at a seasonal site, theirs is plugged in all year.
