Coleman Roadtrip BBQ Regulator Delete

Since I have multiple propane ports mid frame, I deleted the regulator on my bbq since you can't run two regulators on the same line. I just unscrewed the regulator at the nipple, and used an extra Coleman propane hose I had. I cut off the proprietary ends, slide over the threads on one end (nice and snug), and clamped with a quality clamp. Same with the other end but used a quick connect (nice and snug) and clamped. Passed the soapy water test, then heat shrunk the clamps because they are kinda sharp.

good post.

been wanting to do this with mine but don't want to break my only regulator as we is it more than just when camping.

the thing that bugs me is just the simple clamping...I suppose though if it doesn't leak, it doesn't leak regardless of connection.

They use these in fuel injection lines where it's common to see 50 psi.
My BBQ only see's about 11 inches of water column from the house regulator.

I just bought one and I found a fitting that screws on so I removed the entire regulator fitting and screwed in a fitting for the quick connect. Tested it last night and all is good.

I did a similar thing with mine. But I just have a quick-connect port hanging directly off the back of the grill now that just hooks up to a QC hose directly without any mods.

Just like as shown in this video.

quick connects

I would suggest quick connects rather than a clamp (which can leak).

I do not want to read about a post where the camper went up in-flames due to a bad propane connection.

just a suggestion.

Clamping is fine, its very low pressure and will not leak easily. Its only 1-2 PSI at the most. Quick connects are notorious for leaking.

Like what you have done but would recommend permenant clamp like bandit strap and buckle. Or a crip that can be put on at a rv part store.

Regulator

I didn't bother cutting and clamping.... Just gutted the regulator a few years ago, works great. We do have a spare in case we need to use the grill off a separate hi pressure setup.
