New member with charger/converter failure
I have a 2005 Cougar 301BHS and at the end of last season, the converter/charger quit working. The lights went back and forth, from dim to bright, and this lasted for a few weeks. Finally, the battery went dead, while plugged into shore power, and wouldnt take a charge.
My problem is that I need to order a replacement, or an upgrade, but the camper is currently tucked away at the campground for the winter. Does anyone know what model # the converter/charger is, or what model I need to order, as a direct replacement?

Welcome to the forum!!
If your converter isn't built into the bottom half of the power distribution panel, then replacement is fairly easy. What you need to know is how many amps the old one is so you can get at least that many in the new one. Doesn't hurt to go more so I would probably look for a 55 amp. WFCO is a popular brand, we use them and have little to no issues with them.

Thank you for the info. The converter is on the bottom half of the panel, but not "built in". Its a separate unit. I've checked some Youtube videos, and the replacement seems pretty straight forward, but I just wanted to make sure I get a direct "bolt in" unit, without modifications.

When I replaced mine several years ago the stock unit was 45 amp. I replaced it with a 55amp and the physical size and connections were identical. It rarely hurts to upgrade a little. Both units were WFCO. Can't remember model numbers. JM2¢, Hank
