Could have been a lot worse!

Yesterday while trying to clear the driveway I left my brain in the house and went to clear some slush from the shoot. The engine was at idle with nothing was engaged but some how the shoot engaged with my fingers on my right hand inside. Two fingers were smashed and the tip of my middle finger was sliced off. Spent some time at the Dr's and had the tip put back on. In a lot of pain but was luck I did not lose my hand!

Wayne,

Sorry to hear about your accident. I think we've all been in a situation where we can look back and wonder, "Why did I do that?"

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery with no permanent issues.

I don't know how many times I have done that while thinking "Don't try this at home kids." or more likely "Not gonna happen to me, I'm careful." I don't know if we are just not thinking at the time or we think we are bullet proof.
Wishing you a speedy and total recovery, Hank ...... Keep us updated

not sure what a shoot is, but please guys never leave your brain inside (gals too). My mom lost the tip of her finger years ago and it was put back on. It healed nicely and there was very little loss of feeling after a time, she did really good.

Glad to hear you still have your fingers/hand intact.

As an aside I once stopped a briggs and straton lawnmower with my left foot......thought I had hit a rock until I looked down and seen my foot under the deck of the mower.......blood started to flow when I started running to the house up hill.....

Talking Shute

Come on azlee56, you have to do investigation work to figure out what a shute or shoot is. I read it three times then looked at where he's from, Nova Scotia.
The shoot or shute is on his snow blower, we don't have them things in AZ or GA, come to think of it what is snow?

No matter where you come from it's a four letter word.

We don't even own a sn*w shovel ... when winter brings 'white' to the southern desert, they roll-up the streets & life comes to a halt!

All kidding aside though, x96mnn we all hope to hear that you're doing okay!!

We had 6 last night, that's a total of 18 in the past week. I've got a front end loader and I'm running out of places to stack it.... I spent about 4 hours today pushing the piles further back so I can keep moving it off the drive, the road and the place our "favorite 4 legged one" likes to do his business.... Yeah, I know, moving snow for a dog? Yup, he's part of the family

Cabinfever -

Do you have a snowblower? If you do, please be careful to keep your fingers and hands out of the "chute" OR if you live in Nova Scotia, out of the "shoot" OR as some here have described it as a "shute".

Where do folks come from who call it a "shute"?

We all must be suffering from cabin fever. Wait. Ooooops - that is the name of the previous poster. Now I'm really confused.

This is the same reason I can only count to 19 with my shoes off now
Pulling a mower uphill is not a good idea.

That does not take very much ................... and John!!! How big is your dog that you need a front-end loader to clean up after him????

no! No!! NO!!! Hank. He's a German Wirehair Pointer, not an Elephant !!!! I don't use the FEL to clean up AFTER him....rather to clean up BEFORE him.....

I use it to keep the snow moved so he doesn't SIT (spelled correctly) in SNOW when he STOOPS (also spelled correctly). Keeping the SNOW LOW keeps his behind dry, keeps him happy and keeps the DW's carpet dry when he decides to come in and shake snow all over the house.

It tries to snow here two days ago. We've only seen it one day this year.
