Recent campgrounds

We just finished a 3500 mile, 16 day trip and just wanted to let you all know about some of the campgrounds we stayed at.

1) Brown County Fairgrounds, Aberdeen, South Dakota: Full hook-ups, cheap, no bath house, level gravel sites (some with shade (w/e only) and some with grass area), quite (unless the fairgrounds is having an event). We would stay there again. Stayed 5 nights.

2) The Arrow Campground, Wall, South Dakota: Close to town, full hook-ups, cheap, bath house (needs serious up-dating), level shaded grass & gravel sites, train tracks close by, free wi-fi, older campground and not the best maintained. Good for a nights stop but wouldn't spend a lot of time there. The person that helped us was friendly and helpful. Stayed 1 night, Good Sams park.

3) Mountain Range RV Park, Columbus, Montana: Full hook-ups, cheap, clean park and well kept, friendly mom & pop ran, shaded level grass & gravel sites, close to interstate so some noise, wi-fi (pay). We would stay here again, nice for an over night stay or for a few nights. Stayed here 1 night, Good Sams park.

4) Grizzly RV Park, West Yellowstone, Montana: Full hook-ups with heated water hook-ups, expensive (but worth it), friendly and helpful staff, plenty of amenities, clean modern bath houses, level gravel site with grass area & concrete patio with some sites having extra parking area for tow vehical, unlimited wi-fi with premium sites & 2 hour with other sites, close enough to walk to town, less then a mile from west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, very quite. We would stay here again. Stayed here 4 nights, Good Sams park.

5) Sherwood Forest, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin: Full hook-ups, gravel & dirt sites some with grass areas and plenty of shade & some full sun, most pull through sits are pretty level some back in sites are really sloped and can make leveling difficult, most sites have trees and can be hard to get in and out of, bath houses were just ok, within walking distance to town, noisey but fairly good about inforcing quite times (at lease at night), check-in staff was friendly and helpful, price was moderate, free wi-fi. We would stay here again on non-holiday and weekends durring peak season would be questionable. Stayed here 3 nights, Good Sams park.

Sounds like you had an awesome trip, since you stayed at Wall, SD, I don't suppose I even need to ask if you visited Wall Drug. We stopped at Wall Drug on our trip out West in 2009, interesting and a must see, at least once. On that trip we stayed inside Yellowstone at Xanterra Campground, expensive and not at all worth it but people were waiting in line, as soon as one rv pulled out another pulled in, they were the only campground inside the park with full hook ups, very disappointing and won't stay there again but we had reserved before leaving home and didn't have a choice. In 2011 we stayed 5 nites at Grizzly in West Yellowstone and although a bit pricey, it was well worth the money, well maintained, etc... and as you said very close to the West entrance of Yellowstone, we would stay there again.

The only one of those we stayed out with our trip out West was Grizzly RV Park. It was very nice and SO close to the entrance of Yellowstone.

It wasn't the most expensive we've ever stayed at, but it was nice it was a Good Sam Park - every penny counts these days!

Yep, we had an awsome trip even though we ran into a few problems along the way and some really bad weather.

Jim & Kay, we had been to Wall before and yes we had been to Wall Drugs and a lot of the shops in town before. We didn't go into town on this stop in Wall. We got in about 8:00 p.m. in the evening and left about 5:00 - 6:00 a.m the next day. It was just a stopping point for the night on this trip. If it would of been just my wife and me we would of probably opted to stay at campgrounds within the park but we had my wifes daughters with us and 4 people trying to use the shower in the camper just wasn't going to work to well (bath houses being pay for use in the park) plus we had one of the girls that needed wi-fi to be able to do some class work (she is taking some summer courses). We would probably stay at Grizzly again on our next trip out there even with it being pricey. It's no wounder this place gets such great reviews!
