brake controller hook up

Ok I have a 2007 Chevy truck old body style. And I just got a new brake controller and I can't seem to get it to work. I do have the factory towing package so it s simple plug and play or am I missing something

Did you install the large fuse in the panel under the hood?

Nope. That could be what I'm missing. Not to sure were it would go the label in the fuse box tells me to look in owners manual and the manual tells me to go the the dealer. But there is a spot there that has kinda like a dummy fuse tthat has a B+ on it going to get a fuse and plug one in and see what happens

Ok so I did some more looking around and found out that I had gotten the wrong plug or because my truck is a change over year it was wired different, but I ended up moving some of the wires around and got everything to work. But now the control unit is telling telling me that I have a short when the brakes are ideal.
The brake controller I got was the prodigy p2.
