Fresh tank, city water issie

So we are using our new to us Fusion 325 for the first time this weekend.

I hooked the hose to the city water inlet and turned it on, not realizing the valve was in the tank fill position. Well we over filled the fresh tank.

So we drained some water from the tank and turned the valve to the city water position. Later I notice water coming from the power fill port again but not as fast as it did when it filled before.

Anyone had this happen before, seems like my fresh tank is being filled in either position that the valve is in?

Guessing the valve will need to be changed?

Do you have the “Nautilus” water panel with the 4 colored valves? If so are positive you have all 4 valves pointed in the right direction.

No it's a 2016 and does not have the nautilus system just the black valve

Ok. So when you say the “power fill port” you mean where you hook up the hose?

If you only have one hose connection and a single valve for “tank fill” or “city water” then your hose wasn’t connected?

I’m just trying to get a better understanding so I/someone can maybe help figure the problem out.

It has 2 ports. The one in the wet bay that is the city hook up but also can fill the tank and there is one about 3 feet back behind a smaller black door.

I believe I found another post on another forum that solved the issue. The water pushes through the pump back into the fresh tank, the check valve is bad or going bad.

Their fix was to add a separate valve between the tank and pump

The water connection behind the black door is most likely a blank tank flush connection.

No, the tank flush is below the city water inlet. It is a speed fill or something they called it.

Post a photo of your convenience center with all of the valves/ports visible. Something ain't clicking in the way you're describing the system. The black tank flush has never been marked as a "speed fill" on any trailer I've ever seen.

The one circled in green is the city water/tank fill.

The red is the black water flush.

The second picture is the speed fill I guess is the correct name. There's no threads to connect a hose for it to be a black water flush.

That is also where the fresh tank was overflowing from

You may have a bad O-ring on the fill/city water valve and it's leaking through there. Open/close that valve (twist back and forth) a few times to see if it might reseat the O-ring.

The speed fill is actually the tank vent. As the tank fills, the air vents out that port. When full, it flows water to prevent "exploding the tank" from built up pressure.

It's also used as an "emergency tank gravity fill" by removing the screen and inserting a small hose into the port to pour water from 5 gallon containers into the tank. Some people buy a "water bladder" and use a 12 volt pump to push water into the vent.

You might have "sucked some debris" into the pump diaphragm. If there's no inlet screen on your water pump supply hose, you can buy one of these for about $10 from Amazon. That will "screen out any plastic shards or other small pebbles/sand that might have found their way into the fresh water tank.

The first thing I'd do is remove the pump take the pump head off, clean the diaphragm and reassembly/reinstall the pump. If it still leaks, your two choices are a one way valve in the pump output line (my second choice) or to buy a new pump. If under warranty (2 years if it's a FloJet) the replacement should be free.

Seems those posters did both things you state fixed/replaced the pump and added the secondary check valve.

If you do decide to add another check valve, do not place it between the pump and the fresh water tank. That line and the connections can not handle city water pressure as it's strictly a suction side of the pump. When I added a check valve years ago due to a failed check valve in the pump, I put it between the pump and the tank, but soon had a water leak at the connections at the suction side of the pump. I then moved the valve to the other side of the pump, the pressure side, and have had no issues since. The brass valve is the check valve on the pressure side of the pump.

I dont see how that would help the problem if the culprit is water bypassing the pump into the fresh tank. Seems a check valve on the pressure line wihkd only eliminate water from coming back up the pressure line and out the inlet.

I have a suspicion the previous owner didnt use a pressure regulator and that is what possibly caused the malfunction.

City water line “enters” the trailer fresh water system AFTER the pump (pressure side). If you place the check valve between that connection and the water pump, it will stop city water from flowing back through the pump to the fresh tank.

Is the black handled valve just below & to the right of your water hose turned clockwise as far as possible? When the handle points down, it fills the fresh water tank. Perhaps it is allowing water to enter the tank.

Just checking but you don’t have the water pump on while connected to city by chance?

Yes the black valve was turned all the way once I noticed it was in the fill position.


No we did not have the pump on with city water
