Air Conditioner upgrade opinions
Hey All. We have a 2016 Impact Fuzion 312 Toy Hauler with 15K Air Conditioner & 50 amp service. In 95+ degree heat, with air running all day, it gets it in the low 80's inside. However, toy hauler section is not vented so its 95 in there. Would like to cool down Toy Hauler plus have option of cooler temps in main trailer. Considering 2nd air conditioner or getting a portable one to plug in back there.
1) Opinions on 2nd one or portable?
2) If we dry camp, we have Onan 5.5KW generator, it runs the existing air conditioner fine, do you think it would run a 2nd one or a portable better?
Thank you in advance. Really appreciate everyones input!
Linda

If you only have one factory AC and 50 amp service it is probably "braced and wired" for a second AC, but usually that wiring is in the bedroom, not the garage. It would be a "small" challenge to get the wiring from the bedroom to the garage and then you would most likely need to brace the roof for the weight of the AC, roughly 100 lbs. It could probably be done if you were very handy and determined. In my mind a portable AC would be a whole lot easier and simpler. Are you sure there are no vents in the garage? Almost every one I looked at that I could remember had both AC and heat vents in the garage, I made a point of checking that since my main purpose was to use it for a bedroom. The garage is the coldest place in mine with the AC running.

Linda, I have 2 AC in my Impact. Works great. We add a floor fan to help distribute the air. The generator is able to run both. I hope this helps.

On the 312 the 2nd air goes in the garage.

We have the Impact 312 also. It comes wired and preped for the second A/C in the garage so its just an add on. The factory puts a 13,500 btu in the garage and its not hooked to the roof ducts, It takes the place of the roof vent. It definately makes a difference.
