Queen beds in garage
Can I lower the bottom bed and leave the top in place so we can walk through with more head room? And or raise the top bed and leave the bottom one down?

If you have the happijack lift system, yes, you can. The top bed "floats" and rides on the bottom bed, it is not attached to the chain mechanism as the bottom bed is. There are 4 metal "pins" in the rails up near the ceiling that you unpin and stick through the 4 holes in each corner of the top bed to hold it up. That's the system I have and am familiar with, not sure if Keystone uses other life systems.

X2 ......... If it is a new rig the dealer may not have installed the pins. Mine were in a plastic bag that I found with the documentation for the rig.

Pins are for bottom bunk while traveling (prevents bunks falling on toys), and for top bunk if you don't want to use it.

You have holes in the channel to use those pins on the bottom section sofa/bed ?? or did you drill your own? I had read that someone did have a failure , I assume chain/brake, and it came down on contents in garage. When I thought about pinning that bottom section while traveling, looked and could not find any holes

Yes-when both beds are all the way up, I can insert the pin underneath the bottom bunk. In the rail, not the bunk. Came that way from the factory-Mama won't let me do too much with the trailer (she will let me take stuff out, not so much about cutting or drilling holes to install something new).

Still have not found those holes, took pictures but can not find them
Always wondered why my pin weight was high, no holes Maybe one of these days I will run across them

I don't think we have them. I think they are a later addition.
The holes would make the back lighter, the pin heavier. I think all those halogen bulbs are affecting your pin weight.

Story of my life, late again. Good point on those halogens, I have been working on converting them to led, but have yet to go back to the scales. How are you progresssing in your weight reduction. Still struggling with the heavier double pin bayonet base ??
Have yet or resolve the ladder issue, I know yours folds

The LEDs are heavier than the glass bulbs they replaced. But those are over the axels so pretty negligible on pin weight.

Here is a picture with the top and bottom bunks/couch at the top. You can just see the pin at the top of the vertical rail with the round ring attached that holds the top bunk in place when the lower one is lowered. There is one at each corner.
