Bowing Problems

Problems...now this is a biggie I think. The back outside wall has bowed and it was fixed. We saw the skin removed and there was no water damage, it just bowed. Ask how fast were we going, and how far we traveled! Hmmm it's a travel trailer are we not suppose to travel with it. Our top speed was around 50 and we traveled 45 miles. Well they fixed it and it was beautiful. It was flat and caulked we were very happy till we got home, 45 miles down the road and it has started to bow again. Anyone else have this problem? You asked this same bowing question in the New Member Check In and I responded there.

2013 Keystone Laredo 294RK fiberglass bowing

You responded to another owner for the exact same problem I am having but I can't find the response saying what. We have the same RV and I cannot find any water leaking inside/outside and believe me I have looked. The fiberglass bowing is just above the back bumper of the unit and goes all the way across and about 6" up. One site I found said possible heat and that would make sense as the frig is vented out the back wall. The kitchen is in the back. Another site said drop the jack stabilizers. It has been extremely wet on the ground and they are on one long wood 6 x 6 to stabilize it. It has been on jacks for a year now as we are living in it and it has not moved. I am going with dropping the jacks for a week and see what happens. But can you tell me your response to the other owners please.

Here is the original post and responses that are referenced above your request:

Additionally, here are a couple more threads concerning the rear wall construction and appearance of Keystone RV's. Keep in mind that many competitors use the same construction techniques.

Trailer fiberglass back wall bowing

Thank you so much for those links on the back wall. I really love this trailer and it has saved us financially and I am sooooo glad it will continue doing that. It has taught me a lesson in what we need to do on maintenance and to visit this forum for all my questions and concerns.

New bowing/seperation issue

Our 2013 Keystone Laredo 294RK is now bowing and separated at the top crown on the back outside fiberglass wall where you can see the screws that hold in the metal trim at the top. The defect is about 2 ft. in length. The bottom was bowing but since we dropped the stabilizers it appears to be better. As I read in other reviews the back is made different and is not supported the same as the side walls and bowing can be normal. Attached is a picture from today when I discovered it and will be bring to the dealer but what in the world could have caused this? Anyone have an idea? It has only been moved 3 times and not over 130 miles each time. No road issue either.

My guess would be water intrusion and delamination.

Bowing issue

Well not sure what the issue is but the dealership has it and Keystone is reviewing my pictures and the dealerships comments on the issue. This is not normal so we will see what happens. If water is causing delamination, there were no visible entry points outside, no water leakage inside to the wall at all. Nothing that the eye could see that was caused from water. We will just have to wait on the decision for as long as we can.
